Does a horse being Inconsistent have an effect on breeding? —CLOSED—

Does anyone know? Thanks!Post edited by HarmonyC at 2020-10-22 09:00:53

They are more likely to have inconsistent foals.

From experience with GMTing horses to be consistent, inconsistency lowers PT by up to 0.5, so since inconsistent parents are more likely to produce inconsistent foals, they will also have a lower average foal PT than consistent horses with the same hidden breeding ability score.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

Inconsitant refers to how well they will show ; although its been said that breeding incon will also result in incon foals ;
some days they show like CHamps ; some days they show like stubborn Shetland ponies that just WANT . TO . EAT.Post edited by annismyrph at 2020-10-22 04:22:00 -
A very inconsistent horse will also be snipped by SBA, so breeding inconsistent horses could result in a higher chance of the foal being snipped :)ID 195859

@Maribo can you direct me to where it says that a very inconsistent foal will be snipped by SBA?
Not saying you're wrong but from my understanding show consistency has nothing to do with breeding ability but I could be wrong -
@annismyrph that's saying consistency is only inherited but not a factor in breeding ability to be snipped during SBA..
-
you are correct ; i just re read it ; i also know i saw it somewhere ; lol now i just have to find it
-
There was a time when horses could be snipped if they were close to the line, and being inconsistent pulled them under to be spayed/gelded. I have personally had then snipped, gmt'ed their consistency and then have them pass. However that was a while ago now, I have a feeling it was when the mare advice came in, and SBA overall seemed more strict. I think it was adjusted so inconsistency may not affect BA or SBA anymore or it may just be less of an affect. I really don't know anymore!

But either way, being inconsistent definitely affects PT, and conversely will have an effect on breeding to some degree

OK. Thanks everyone. That’s pretty much what I thought. So I think I am going to try to stick to breeding Consistent horses then. I really asked because it will help me narrow down the foals that I’m breeding.

Dont know where it says so :P Could be an old thing (from the old SMA), but I am like at least 99% sure that I have read several times that horses that were/are more than a certain amount of points inconsistant was/is altered by SBA. Cant for the love of me find it now though, so I'm hoping (but not 100% sure) I did not hallucinate this.ID 195859
