Just wish that I could somehow get Foundation Homozygous Snowflake Appaloosas bred by me but best I could find was 2nd generation bred by someone else. So I guess I’ll be starting my line from 3rd Generation. Hopefully when I get my line far enough no one will even go back and realize that it wasn’t my horses who started the line. Does that make sense?

Alright! Unfortunately, because there are no homozygous snowflake herd helpers, it’s nearly impossible to get lucky enough to create a homozygous snowflake, so you would have to GMT a foundation homozygous snowflake if you want to start your own line from foundation horses.

You CAN start your line from the second generation, but it would take a lot of time. You would need to make creates and gene test them until you found some who are heterozygous snowflake. Every time you breed a het snowflake to a het snowflake, the foal has a 25% of no snowflake, a 50% chance of het snowflake, and a 25% chance of hom snowflake.

In other words, het x het= 25% (1 in 4) chance of a homozygous snowflake. You would probably need to breed a lot of foals, but if you’re willing to put the time in, you can start your own snowflake line from second generation!

There are actually a few of the Christmas HHs that Are Hom Snowflake(The Marzipan Stollen one and The Ghost Of Christmas Future one I believe) and the AOLMP was also a Hom SF but they are only very special event Rank Specials and are harder to get! You could put them on your wish list for this years Secret Santa event if you sign up for it! Then you could get lucky! You can put hom snowflake on a foundation horse though the RGS as well as in the GMT Lab! You can definitely start your line from 2nd gen like Nightphoenix says too! Hope that helps!

you can get HET Snowflakes from almost all of the HerdHelpers ; they are just a fun surprise ; at which point you would only have to GMT 1 Snowflake on or start with the HET bred to each other

Just FYI it's far far cheaper to breed Het Snowflake foundations until you get one that has all of the right genes, even if the stud is missing the Hom Snowflake you can add this on for 1 GMT. I then wouldn't bother making any of the mares Hom for it, and then just 'binning' all 3rd gens that didn't come out Hom.

You could, of course, cull this extensively at 2nd gen but it could take many months to get the horses you desire - or many GMT's to edit them all (but still less than adding it to the foundation horses).

Guess I should have said that I don’t have the money to GMT any horses. So that’s out of the question! So from what I’m getting from all this is that it would be basically impossible for me to breed a Homozygous Snowflake line starting from Foundations. Sounds like I’d have to start from 2nd Generation either way. So I guess I’m fine with starting with 2nd Generations bred by someone else and then working up from there. I do hope someday to get lucky and get one of those Herd Helpers that HorseAngel mentioned but until then I guess I’ll just continue my line with these 2 Gorgeous foals.

Impossible, no not at all - It'll just take you some time to get guaranteed Hom Snowflake.

Use only Het Snowflake foundations and you can;

1) geld/spay any 2nd gens which are not Hom (25% No Snow, 50% Het Snow, 25% Hom Snow)

2) geld/spay only those 2nd gens who are neither Het nor Hom snowflake

Using option 1 you will guaranteed Hom Snowflake when breeding your 3rd Gen (and will only have ain't t Hom 2nd gens) using option 2 you could have guaranteed Hom Snowflake when breeding your 4th generation.

Hom snowflakes ARE randomly creatable but very very rare. It does happen on occasion that someone gets one though.

Those foals are cute!

My breeding goals are all over the place on this server, but I do love snowflake, and I've found the Snowflake Breeders Club chat to be super helpful for breeding to outside lines! If you want outside blood, I'd be happy to let you breed to this boy or give you some straws from him (he's a foundation het for snowflake) if you'd want.
