Snowflake Varnish
-
So I ve noticed Ammit has updated the Snowflake line to " Snowflake Varnish " (Thanks Ammit ! )
However the "FirstSnow" HH are supposed to be "Varnish" unless i ve completely misread the info and yet none of them have Snowflake / Varnish on that new line ;
is there a way ( Short of breeding them ) to know if a horse is "varnish" prior to the marbling / roaning starting to appear? Or do we assume ALL the First snows are at least Het for Varnish even though it is not marked ont he gene list ? -
I noticed this yesterday as well as I was breeding my Snow stud and saw the new wording xD
No idea how it should work, will wait for Ammit's announcement.HJ1: 266615

Snowflake is a type of varnish, always has been. Nothing has changed on that front. I am just prepping for some new additions so changed the wording on the search to be more clear.
This change has nothing to do with the first snow HH. They are not related.Post edited by Ammit at 2020-11-07 07:11:07Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

There are different types of varnish. Snowflake is one of them, and testable. The genetics for "regular varnish" is hidden and non-testable by this point, but the First Snow RS is at least heterozygous for the regular varnish

Likewise, the Evergreen Boughs herd helper do not have "regular varnish", but *can* have snowflake varnish. (Or at least, I assume they can. There's a couple that have it, and only one has GMT tattoos."Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." - PTerry Pratchett
