Auto breeding in pasture
-
I'm newish when it comes to auto breeding with pastures. It's the 14th and my pastures didn't auto breed. They didn't auto breed last month either even after I waited a few days after the 14th. Am I just being impatient? Does it auto breed on days other than the 14th?
Last month I realized that I had a 3 year old mare in my pasture and assumed that it couldn't auto breed with a mare that was too young being present. This time I've made sure that all my mares are 4+.Post edited by Ammit at 2020-11-15 01:52:50 -
Hmmm... I can't see a reason, but I am not the expert! Let me switch the category of this post to Bug Discussion, to be sure Ammit sees it.

Most but not all of my pastures auto bred last night ;
-
You have one single shot for auto breeding to trigger. Your first login after rollover on the 14th. If you are not ready to go then you have missed it and need to manually trigger your pastures. If you breed your pastures before the 14th it won't auto trigger at all. It looks like both your pastures have been triggered already.Post edited by Ammit at 2020-11-15 01:54:45Need to contact me? Yeah, every season I have issues with my pastures only partially autobreeding. Never a fully autobred pasture. I just checked my 5th gen pasture and it was only about 50% autobred. It had missed 50 mares in there. I can not trust the "best pasture foal" email to be accurate if my pastures are not 100% autobred.
-
I think the max is 500 mares for the breed all pastures or the auto breed trigger. I normally go back thru the pastures and breed each one to make sure it gets all mares.Thanked by 1Ammit

Correct. If you have a big barn, you need to manually run it a few times to get all mares.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I think for me, the problem is that I expect a pasture to be completely bred, not have half the mares bred and the other half not bred. I wouldn't have a problem manually finishing my pasture breeding if the autobreed did full pastures. I had 97 mares of breeding age in my 5th gen pasture, and the autobreed missed 50 of those, so only 47 5th gen mares were bred. The best pasture foal in that email came from the 5th gen pasture. Therefore, he was the best out of only 47 foals, not 97 potential foals taking into account the possibility of lethal white foals.
The only way I can think of that would guarantee an accurate best foal pasture email is if I choose to breed a certain generation early before the autobreed date. -
It does all mares unless you have over 500, or they are unable to breed. Otherwise, it destroys the server.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I know its a LONG LONG Wishful shot ; but when it partial breeds ( and I have well over 500 mares ) ; i dont mind going back and manualy finishing the pastures ; But ; when it tells me i have 9 mares left unbred -.- after I manually breed them and I have to hunt them down ; it is a major pain ; I am pretty sure there is a way to search for it ; but I can't quite figure it out ; if someone could help me out with this ? Or is there a way to program it to tell us where those 9 out of 1600 ( ish ) mares are ?
-
You can just use the breed all pastures button to breed them. You could also click into each pasture, use the "search this pasture" link and then search for unbred mares.
-
Or switch your pasture to View in Search mode for the pasture, and change the actual search criteria (scroll down past all the horses in that particular pasture) to search for NOT 'Bred This Year'.
....or what Humbolt just said! :PPost edited by ConfluenceStable at 2020-11-15 16:58:39

Or if you only have a few left to find and don't want to check through all your pastures, you can do a regular search for all your horses with "not bred this year" and "any" pasture selected, then navigate from the horse's page to her location.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

I find it when all my pastures have been bred and if it still says that there are mares unbred, it's usually because mares too old to breed are still in pasture. It doesn't count the 3 year old fillies I put in pasture so they can start accumulating the bonus
-
Out of curiosity, since autobreeding obviously does not breed mares by _pasture_, how is that done? Does it breed mares by ID number order, regardless of age or generation or pasture they are in?
-
I believe it just goes down the list of your mares by ID and checks if they can be bred.Post edited by Ammit at 2020-11-16 11:48:07Need to contact me? Read this first.
