We used to have a player run Secret Santa event through the forum for Christmas. Starting this year it has been replaced by the gift exchange, which is integrated into the game itself. This takes the huge burden of managing it off from the players who volunteered to run it, allows for additional features to streamline the whole process, requires formal post exchange feedback to evaluate each player's participation, and it happens twice a year instead of just at Christmas.
