My foster kittens are getting adopted
  • My first pair of foster kittens are getting adopted today! I am so excited but an emotional wreck at the same time..

    Back story :

August 23rd I received 7 nursing "4 week old" kittens and their mother that was transported from North Carolina up to Maryland that were part of a hoarding case.. mom and most of the kittens were in good health, just covered in fleas and infested with worms but a few had health complications.. one had a major eye infection and will need one of his eyes removed, one went paralyzed in his back end a week after arriving but I was able to get him walking and running around again, one has severe Manx Syndrome and one had a prolapse rectum due to her being a Manx...

Over the course of the last 4 months, I have grown attached to these little ones and I knew that I would eventually have to watch them leave but my heart is breaking because I'm going to miss their weird little antics but my heart is filled with joy because a friend is adopting the two leaving today so I'll still be able to watch them grow and I'll still be able to see them!

I have one leaving next week as well...
The kitten that went paralyzed a week after arrival is going back to North Carolina to a wonderful couple who was there for both him and I from the beginning!
We still have no answers as to why he lost all motor skills but I have a hunch it was from a thiamine deficiency... There were a few times I thought I was going to lose him... But I know he will be going to a good home and one of his new moms is going to school to become a vet tech so I know he'll be in great hands!

Things I have come to realize over these last few months is fostering is an emotional roller coaster.. there are some times I wish I didn't do it but the majority of the time I am so glad I did!

We will be keeping the kitten who's eye has to be removed due to partial or full blindness (we'll see if sight is restored in the decent eye after the membrane that is covering it is restored) and possibly the severe Manx Syndrome girl due to her being overly shy... And my in-laws are adopting the Manx girl who prolapsed!
... I still need to find a home for mom and her one son.. but I am in no hurry honestly..
  • That’s awesome!
I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!
  • Great! I am glad they are finding a home! I always wanted to foster but I already have to pups so I don't think I can have any more!
