Ending of the Year - what's your stats?
  • Player wisdom has usually said a good ratio is 75% altered (geldings and spayed mares) to 25% breeding stock. Back when I was a 20k stall barn, I used to be somewhat close to that, at around 65-70% altereds. For my stats this year, I looked for horses over 1 year old, because.... reasons... (okay, I'm still panic-breeding and mostly stashing foals to be looked over later! ^_^)

Altered count, over one year old: 8762 (8920 - 158 in auction)
Intact count, over one year old: 3398 (3538 - 140 in auction)
Total count: 12,160 (well, so much for my goals of getting to and staying at 10k....)

That ratio's actually pretty good, 72% altered. :D

I do need to go through my lined mares and do a bit of sniping and yumming to get my total # of horses down though. Guess I found my new year's resolution lol!

Let's see... continuing to look at over-1 year olds, I have:

394 stallions, with 19 of them being foundations. Hmm, I don't need 35 2nd gen colts for just the one line, need to cull that down to at most 10... Shoots, there's the 21 clones I still need to mare-ify too. And the 13 'aaga expro' 3 year old painted colts that I need to choose one to boost because I didn't get a single one that tested superior to an expro. Oh, and the 50ish 4G boys from November that I still haven't gone through. Oh my lanta. Another 50ish 5g and 6g colts from November to go through. Ahhh, that's because I stuck them in one of my altereds barns, not the colt barn. Oops. Quite a few fillies in that barn too! :-)) I sense a mass geld/spay in my future! (I love that feature so much!)

    Onto the mares, I have:
849 foundation mares. That... seems excessive... but I was running out of mares just a couple game years ago, so having been buying and creating a lot lately. :D Probably a couple hundred are the various mares I keep around to gain points and use for ET. Oh, and I do need 500 to keep my foundie pastures full, so I guess that number isn't that bad.
2,128 lined mares, from 2nd gen all the way to my long-lined high PT mares. 200 of them are 17+ years old. Another hundred are currently 16. But over half of them are under 10 years old - 1,262! After I go through all my lined colts, this is where I need to spend some time. Probably need to tighten up on my color requirements if this many mares are making it through SBA and comparison testing.

Okay, that was a fun (and enlightening!) use of my evening and I have some goals for the next couple/few weeks!

    How are your barns looking?

  • Ope i crept over the 10k mark this season, hitting 10737 total ponies :O
Only 1752 intact horses out of those though, making it about 16% intacts and 82% geldings and spays. which isn't too bad, and I've even been auctioning hundreds of speld foals to make room the last few seasons as well :)) 196 stallions, and 1556 mares!

    of that total 10737 horses,
1320 of those are foals i bred this year. I went wild doing embryo transfers this season, my vet will be ecstatic about my bills for that :))
Of this seasons 1320 foals, only 167 of them are actually intact. This kind of hurts to look at but i am pretty darn strict with my testing so i guess it makes sense lol.

448 are foundations, including over 100 mares i use soley for ET. 10 of these foundations are stallions, with 3 of these stallions lined up to be changed to mares anyway :)) (sorry boys)

i do pretty much all the testing in batches, EI i fill up my primary barn hand breeding, SBA test everything blindly then sort into showing or intact barns and test further. intacts get comparison tested, and sorted/spayed further if they only test aga. I am really only behind in naming my foals, 2 and 3 yr old intacts, so hopefully i will at least have to time name my 3 yr olds before next season lol.

anyway this was super fun to do, and i enjoy reading everyone else's stats as well! :D

  • Yikes! I have 11,900 total horses. Time to go to auction!

I have 10, 237 spayed mares and geldings so I definitely am good with the scalpel lol. I love where my show bonus is at though.

1,663 intacts, but that includes a group of foundies going to auction and a bunch of ET mares in barns.

I bred at least 1024 foals this year! Wow! I have never looked at those numbers before.

  • Last year between October and December I did a huge cull and emptied my foal holding barn. January/ February I worked on clearing out my freezer and keeping my foal barn empty. Then Covid happened and we kept working and I just couldn’t deal with the game much as I couldn’t sit and focus, I still can’t really.

This month as I was procrastinating looking for SS gifts I started picking away at my foal holding as it had overflowed my 1000 stall barn and almost filled up another 1000 stall barn and I had 10 year olds still in there.

Last week I finished emptying my foal holding barn and after my last set of gifts went out emptied my pastures and culled and sorted them into barns and cleared out all the eggs from my freezer. Now that I don’t have to keep money in the bank for gifts I will start emptying my altered barns into the auction as they are getting full.

    Total horses 7,500
    Total altered 5,856
    Total intact 1,644

    Ratio roughly 1:4

(there are some random foundations that will be sold/culled as they don’t fit my breeding goals but were created as hopeful Ss gifts) I also need to go through my stallions and cut them down more.

    Total Stallions: 302
    Foundations: 7

    Total mares: 1,342
    Foundations: 368

    Embryos to implant: 814
    Straws: 204
Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes
  • Total horses >1 = 31420
    Altered = 25543
    Intact = 5877

I have 18.7% intacts in my stable.

  • I have a total of 2882 horses, and I just purchased another 1k barn for show horses.

    I have 405 intact horses
    I have 2477 altered
6/1 I’m pretty happy with that ratio.

I have 90 foundation mares. (A few are for sale)
3 foundation stallions. One of whom is 16.
    281 lined mares
31 lined stallions, after i sort again I’ll probably have 20.

All in all not bad, especially considering this isn’t my main account.

I feel you. I have foals that need sorting that were born several game years back. More than I care to think, too...

I'm a little frightened to even take a look, but here we go.

    Total horses: 24 555
    Altered: 20 079 (~82 %)
    Intact: 4 476 (~18 %)

That's a fair ratio, especially considering that I have hundreds of intact horses that I haven't looked through and spelded, as I should have.

I have 1102 foundations of whom nearly all are intact, and most are mares.

I also found to my surprise that I have 502 horses that are aged over 20. The oldest is a 32 year old spay. I show all my stock that is not in the pasture, so most of these aged unbreedable horses are still making money, which is nice.

  • Let's see...

    I have 5,641 horses total.

Showhorses: 4,398 total. Oldest is 24

    Breeding stock: 1,243

1,107 mares from yearlings to 19 year olds.
136 stallions and stud prospects of various ages, from foundations to 7th generation. On average I keep about 9 stallions per pasture and keep them on a rotational basis.

  • I have 973 horses.

Of those, 720 are altered (~74%) and 253 are intact (~26%).
I have 21 stallions and I'm on the hunt for a pretty bootstrap stallion...
Of my 232 mares, 181 will be breeding age for January.

I should go through my breeding stock, but knowing me I'll wait until after the January breedings!

  • I have 579 total horses (I counted foals since I’m done breeding and sorting for the year.) That feels like a lot to me, but it definitely isn’t compared to some other stables lol!

I have 423 total show ponies, so thats 73%; not bad for a small stable! I have 156 breeding stock (including a few that are for sale) and only have 13 stallions, so I think I’m good there. I’ve recently figured out what I want to breed and have consolidated my breeding stock, so I’m back to mostly foundations and some second gens.
I mostly play on mobile so I can't usually see signatures!
Breeding Pearl Warmbloods, Little Red Riding Ponies, and... whatever else suits my fancy lol.
  • 5437 total horses (... I, uh, don't know when I became such a big barn)
    intacts: 1338
    neutered: 4099

So, 24.7% intact, which would be a 3:1 show to breeding ratio. Not ideal, but not nearly as bad as I feared. (In my early days, I tried to be 4:1, which would be 20% intact.)

stallions 178, across seven generations, including bootstrap boys, a couple that are kept intact for public breeding (usually livers), and a few that have aged out of breeding.

My intacts number does include several that were in pastures for breeding but later removed, but were already leveled off in training so neutering them was pointless. Probably not enough to move the dial significantly. I recently upgraded to premium and I haven't yet gone through and sba-ed prior horses - will probably be an easy way to get my numbers back into alignment.

  • Just for fun, I also did my hj2 barn, which is further along than this one... but also has more "fun" lines where I just toss things together and see what happens. Felding is even more in need of a purging, but I did SBA all my lined mares in pastures (and most lined mares under 4) yesterday, so that's a start.

    Total horses: 7953 (!)
    intacts: 1782
    neutered: 6171

So that's 22.4% intact, even after last night's purge. Yikes.

Stallions 273, but I haven't started sorting the foals from my nexus paddock or my 100 mare G1 pasture, and that's over 50 colts right there. 8 are 20 or older.

Interestingly, on HJ2, my oldest horse is 24. On HJ1, where I have a lot more space constraints, I have a couple 22 year olds. I was expecting to have more older horses on HJ2.

  • Total: 7080
    2.6:1 altered:intact :-S Womp womp

    Foundation studs: 15
Foundation mares: 439 (including 90 for ET)
    Lined studs: 169 - yikes!
    Lined mares: 290
    Available to new homes: 88!

I definitely did not realize that I have almost twice as many foundation mares as lined mares (2G to 6G). I need to work on that altered to intact ratio! That’s my goal for next year. :))
