Going back to school??!
-
I'm in disbelief at myself right now, this weekend I submitted my application to transfer my old gen ed credits to a bachelors program. I was in college 2011-13 and was 2 credits shy of an associates degree, and dropped out in my 5th semester after transferring to a 4 year university. NOW almost 10 years later I'm finally just gonna go for it and finish the bachelors degree. My work does tuition reimbursement so I just have to pay up front and get it back at the end of the year, as long as my grades are higher than C average. I'm just amazed that I'm actually going through with it now. I realllllllllly hated school when I went as a teenager, now I'm in my late 20's and I have something to work towards and life skills to keep my on track. I just really hope that I can make it through this program so I can make a lotta money :) I'm going for the health information management/technology degree as I work for an insurance company this will likely help broaden my options for upward movement. I just want MONEY, OK!? :D I have plenty of pixel ponies but I'm ready for the second mortgage of real horse ownership, just needa bankroll it.
Pray for my academic success, friends. -
Wishing you all the best as you jump back into academia and work toward a bachelor's degree. May you be blessed with professors who know how to teach!Thanked by 1ichigo

Thanks you guys! I got the official call today that my app was accepted so I am officially a student come the summer term :D
Today has just been a great day, I programmed a macro previously thought impossible/too hard in a DOS system older than I am today, I got a new quilt for my bed, and I've heard a development company is interested in my house (I love my house but if I can get a fat stack for it and upgrade I wouldn't mind...)
Looks like my 2021 will have some good potential, fingers crossed no crazy 2020 sh** happens! -
I wasn't allowed to go to university by my parents and I always wondered if I was clever enough. Fast forward a few decades and I finally took the plunge and studied with the Open University (a very well respected distance learning University in the UK). It was part time study so my degree took 6 years instead of the usual three, and I was also looking after my family and working at the same time. At the age of 55 I graduated with an Honours Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies and my graduation ceremony was one of the proudest moments of my life with my husband and daughters cheering me on.
May I wish you all the best with your studies. It will be hard work but the feeling of achievement at the end will be a high point I can promise you. :)Thanked by 1ichigo -
Yoooo update.
I'm officially registered for Summer semester, taking intro to human biology for pre-req credits (only 1 of 2 prereq classes I'll need for the whole degree, score) and doing a IT class for the program, so 6 credits to start with. I'm hoping the course load is manageable enough that I can do 9 credits a semester (3 classes) in order to finish within 2-3 years.
In the meantime I've been working on building a morning routine so I can get in the groove of consistently working out and having time to do schoolwork prior to my day job. I am not a planner person typically but I bought a planner and have been using it for the past month- I really like it! I've been documenting my daily, weekly, and monthly goals for myself for my physical fitness and riding.
It's been a pretty boring Sunday, my horse threw a shoe a week ago and the farrier is finally coming out tomorrow to reset it (I'm so glad I found the thing in his muddy paddock!) so I've only been able to hand graze him in the unusually nice weather we've been having. This morning I walked to the local coffee shop and up to the park, got home and filled up my new balance ball, and added a bunch of stuff to my Smartpak cart, possibly never to be bought lol. It's days like these I really pine for the time I'm graduated with this degree and have a higher paid job so I can finally buy my own horse instead of leasing. I already have tack sets picked out and I don't own a horse... oof.
@White Valley I know this is a late response but I love that story, no one can take away that pride and accomplishment!Thanked by 1WhiteValley -
It sounds like you're off to a good start. I found out that I had good organisational skills when I started studying. I didn't know I had them before! :)

I went back to college as a single mom. my two grade school kids did all the shopping cooking and cleaning. in 3 years, I did two - 2 year diplomas. It can be done, careful you don't end up a basket case. Breathe deep and ground yourself, and don't snack on raisin bran when you've got the munchies. We all know what bran does. ~hugs~
