Does DFP1 not react with Sooty+?
-
So after reading something about how Dun Factor interacts with more pigment, (and sooty being the addition of more pigment) I thought by adding Sooty+ I would be increasing the pigment factor, and have the added bonus of sooty dapples.
However it looks like I might have been mistaken, and it was probably better to have just stuck with regular Sooty and DP instead of Sooty+
Did I just shoot myself in the foot and cancel any effects that DFP1 would have?

DFP1 and sooty+ both rearrange sooty pigment. Dun reduces sooty pigment. Appy bleaches out and roans over pigment. Basically, this horse is a perfect storm to hide the results of both Sooty+ and DFP1. There is some slightly visible brindling on the barrel of this horse but with appy and no DP there won't be much to see. So ya the S+ probably has hidden what DFP1 you would have seen.
Would you like me to turn the S+ into regular sooty and give this horse two copies of DP?Need to contact me? Read this first.

That would work great for the breeding program, but I've already made a bunch of babies from him thinking that I'd get better results LOL.
So if not, that's ok as well.
I got so excited when you first released DFP1, but I put it on a homozygous LP and PATn1 stallion. Which is fine....except that combination throws loud babies LOL. So I had to work on getting reduced pattern with him so you could see DFP1.
When you released the gene again, I put it on a hom LP stallion with no PATN1 (the stallion above) in hopes of making reduced offspring that I could later cross into the line.
LOL so basically it's a long story of trial and error until I can get the ideal looking Dunfactor Appaloosa. -
Ya you would have to sell back all of his babies for me to swap them. Did not see you had used him a bunch already.Need to contact me? Read this first.
