What would you do?

My account has gotten a little overwhelming and I haven't bred any horses in a few months. I think I've hit a stalemate in my lines any way. I started breeding 7th gen foal last fall and have yet to get in tact foals dispite all 6th gen horses being in pasture with full bonus. What would you do?

If I were at this point, I think I’d sit down with my lines and really evaluate what I want. Which horses do I like and want to keep breeding? Which do I dread the thought of breeding? Sounds like culling is in order! :)Player ID #250257, She/Her

Yup, I cut back to 4th gen, went through all of my breeding stock except for foundation, checked to see if they had dp and appy, passed afpt check, and had a fully tested to superior pedigree, then did an eye candy and age test. I also cut back to one pasture per generation. I've actually got time to do other stuff now.

To start with - higher generations are tough to get intact and superior foals from.
You only have 11 mares, that is a small herd size to expect superior foals from, plus at least one of the mares is only AAGA their dams (I didn't look at all of them). You do have some uneven breeding quality in the lower generations, pairing A stallions to Red mares. This isn't a bad way to breed! Plenty of people do it. But it can definitely create issues with higher generation quality unbalances, if you require your later generations to pass SBA.
Here is my main 6th gen (from B/Red foundies) stallion's list of intact foals. There are 5 of them. Out of 74 foals living foals. And that one superior colt of his? Needed an outside mare from a boosted line to get him, and I'm fairly aggressive about mare papering quality increases each generation. :D

I think we all run into higher gen bottlenecks like this. Culling those higher gens and starting with a stronger base is a great suggestion. I've done it... hmm, twice now with my heavies I think?
Love your tack choices. :) I rarely see horses with the sheets on them, makes for a good looking pedigree page!

#Johara thank you. I wanted something that I could see and instantly know what gen that horse was. Specific colored blankets were the easiest way.
