I tested positive for Covid and I am devastated...
  • I just went and got a rapid test done for covid and it came back positive. I am beyond devastated. I have to miss the next 2 weeks of work meaning i miss an entire pay period (I have to have $2500 in my account by the 15th for taxes and this is a huge blow), I basically ruined Easter Sunday (my dad is a pastor at a small church and now he's not sure how to proceed this weekend), my boyfriend has been in direct contact with me all weekend so now he has to go through proceedings at his work and may have to work from home (he works in IT at a school) AND he's been around his parents AND his elderly grandma who lives with his parents, I can't taste or smell anything which has really put me off wanting to eat anything... etc... Thankfully my mom tested negative. At least I didn't have a lot of direct contact with my family this weekend while everyone was visiting. My sister is going to get tested since I had the most contact with her. I just feel horrible even though I know it's not my fault I got sick. I just feel like I am messing up other people's lives. At least I have my doggo here to snuggle with me...

  • First, take a deep breathe. OK and now another ; illnesses happen ; they are part of life. from everything i ve read and heard the most fals positives come from the rapid tests and the lack of taste and smell can also come from a sinus infection. Take another breath ; your family loves you you can always "Video" chat the service at your Father's church. There should be some kind of sick pay or leave from your job and taxes in the US have been pushed back to be filed and due until May. so breathe again, you ll get through this. God never gives more than you can handle ; but sometimes he really piles it on . PM me if you need to talk ; I am stuck at home on disability so have weird hours and times that I am awake . remember to BREATHE

  • Plus it’s Lent. EVERYTHING is harder during Lent!
I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!

  • Things may seem bleak, but there is always a positive side hiding somewhere. Just breathe and remember that there is no fault or blame to be passed around; there is just the question of "what now?".
My suggestion is to call/text family/friends, do whatever self-care stuff you do (or, if you're like me, know you should be doing regularly but tend to avoid, lol), and enjoy your downtime.

  • I'm really sorry to hear you tested positive, but please remember that its not your fault. Things happen, and its something that is out of your control. I had covid back in November, So trust me I know how you're feeling. I got my boyfriend sick with it because I went home to my parents house and they did not bother to text or call me to forwarn me about testing positive, so I pretty much put myself right in the middle of it. Please take care of yourself, I was the same way with not wanting to eat anything since I lost my taste / smell, but make sure you atleast eat and drink enough to keep yourself from starving / dehydrated! That is the most important thing you can do. I drank ALOT of gatorade and things with electrolytes in it.

  • Soup broth is also great for when you don’t want to eat. Tons of liquid and nutrients.

  • I had it back in October, and I felt SO guilty! (Not for getting it, my mother was seriously ill and spent a week in the hospital and apparently she had been exposed in the there.) But because I felt bad for anyone I had been around who might have gotten it despite masks and social distancing.

My salary for the two weeks I was off was paid by a federal grant, or some such thing. While that won't help the guilt and anxiety, it could help the financial situation. I think it is a FEMA grant that goes to your employer. I can check with my work, if you want some more informaion.

  • I am praying for you and your family. Our church has both in-person and virtual services. Can your father just do virtual services to keep the parish safe? We're virtual only on Easter Sunday due to space constraints and social distancing.

  • Thank you everyone for the kind words :x I think the hardest part for me is this feeling of complete isolation. I HATE being alone. I hate feeling alone. My mom has moved out temporarily and is staying at my Great Aunt's house for the next while so that she doesn't risk getting it. My bedroom is in the basement so I am stuck down here by myself for the next 2 weeks. My dad is home but he stays upstairs. I don't get to see my boyfriend until I am no longer contagious (unless he starts showing symptoms or tests positive, because then he said he's going to come get me and just take me back to his house so I have someone to be with). Even my dogs won't stay down here and hang out with me :'( They would rather be outside all day. Talking on the phone is all fine and dandy but it just doesn't feel the same... It's only day 2 and I am already struggling with this whole being alone thing...

@ConfluenceStable I'm going to talk to my boss but I don't know what I would qualify for pay wise since I'm only a part time Janitorial worker. Also my boyfriend has emphatically told me that he will help me in any an every way I need :) He is allowed to continue working as long as he isn't showing symptoms.

@Visions My dad is doing what we did last year during the quarantine, which is "Drive In" church. One of our members has a large open front yard that people can park their cars on while my dad preaches from the front porch with a microphone (thank goodness our sound system can travel lol). And this way he can also run the sound system himself since that's usually my job (at the chapel my booth is in the back of the room so he wouldn't have been able to run it efficiently there). I'm just bummed that I don't get to be there :(

  • I'm sorry you caught this pesky virus (or maybe I should phrase that "that it caught you").

I sent up a fervent prayer for you, your family, and your dad's congregation. May your case and any others among your contacts be light. (((())))

  • My aunt is still recovering from Covid in the hospital and I can't go in to visit her or be around many people because of my health conditions. It was certainly a lonely few months in isolation for me when Covid first hit and my family have tried to be as safe as we can be, but the "threat" of catching it is Always there and so is the stress of dealing with it. I know because stress has caused some flare ups in my immune condition (which is why I have been on here so much more lately lol). So I feel for you and hope for the best. It is Not your fault, don't panic, breathe and take care of yourself. Remember that it is only for 2 weeks and it's to help keep your friends & family safe, but you will see them again! Maybe try doing something that you like to do or something new to distract yourself? Reading and drawing are some of my favorite things to do when I'm by myself!

  • Definitely hang in there, I hope that things work out well for the rest of your family and with sorting things out with your work. I had to self-isolate for the 2 weeks last year when things first hit and it can certainly be hard. I agree with what everyone else has said - make sure that you take good care of yourself and when you're feeling up to it, pick out some interesting projects to keep yourself occupied. You can get through this!

  • Just as Annismyrph (sorry if i misspelled that) says, just take a deep breath. you can also go back and retest as sometimes tests come back with a false positive. Even if you DO have it, it isnt the end of the world. I have several friends that have survived it with flying colors and even if you have underlying issues it still isnt a death sentence. I am in kidney dialysis and there were several patient with underlying health issues besides the kidney failure, and they all survived and back on dialysis.

In essence, COrona Virus ID 19, is a variant of the common cold, just like the bird flue derived from the common flu and mutated.

Just hang in there, and be positive, If you feel sick go to dr or hospital with any symptoms. If you dont have any symptoms, then you are fine!
