Some may know that I foster kittens through a local rescue... I got 4 new babies that were about 3 weeks old last week and they've been doing great up until Friday evening... my smallest baby who had severe Manx Syndrome, was having a really hard time... he wasn't able to potty and he stopped eating so I had to force feed him and tried everything I could to get his bowels moving... unfortunately I believe there was more going on and that he was failing to thrive... looking at the first picture I ever took of them, his brothers all doubled in size but unfortunately, our little Oliver never grew... he sadly passed away in the middle of the night... now I need to try to find a way to tell my father that the only animal that he ever had a connection with and was planning on adopting, is no longer with us... this has been a huge blow to the heart and I have no where else that I can really vent to.. I've been trying so hard since last week to bring him back around and it wasn't enough and I'm so mad at myself... we took him to go get cremated and he'll come back to the only home he ever knew...
This is my little Oliver...
Thank you for letting me get that off my chest... :((Thanked by 1Xzeina -
I also foster and I "specialize" in semi feral rehabbing when needed. This Year i have 2 momma's 1 with 6 thriving kittens that just hit 4 weeks old and 1 who had 2 and one passed on the first night ; we then had a litter of 4 that were "orphaned" ( guessing momma went to look for food and someone found the litter ) so we put them in with Amber to see if she would accept them ; she DID; and we lost one of those 4 the first night ; its SO hard when they pass ; but its also part of rescue ; we do the best we can with what we have. At least he was loved and cared for, its a lot more than some fates for the kittens we cant help. Its never easy to loose a foster ; its even hard sometimes to let them go to a loving furever family ; but as long as you give them love ; they know it. You ll be in my prayers :)Thanked by 1Xzeina

I'm very sorry to hear that, it is always very difficult to lose a foster, especially so young. But it does sound like you were able to give him his best chance and it is a really great thing that he got to be in a good loving home. Best wishes to you and for the other kittens as well.ID #265959 | He/him | Breeding Black Satin, Liver, and Grullo Arcturus Horses | Licenses: Mushroom, DFP2, Onyx, Axiom Blue and Green

I watch a cat rescue on Youtube and death is unfortunately a part of things. They try their best but sometimes it doesn't always work. Not all arrive there in good health. Some make it through, some don't.
They have a cat who had frostbite and she lost her ears, most of her tail, the claws on her front paws and her back legs but she is doing as well as can be. It's cute watching her scoot around.
They also have other special needs cats. One blind cat, one epileptic cat, two three legged cats, and several with CH.
The viewers are always sad to see cats adopted out, but at the same they are happy because it means the cats have found homes, and it means that the rescue has room to take in another cat and help them.
So kudos to you for doing this kind of work. It can be rewarding and yet very difficult.
