Bootstrap managing help
-
So a couple months ago I got a very high papered star stallion that was miles ahead of my mares, and so up until now I have just been keeping the girls with the best PTs. However now I am starting to get too many mares and they are starting to plato (at least I feel like they are) despite not being anywhere close to his breeding level yet. I have just started breeding him to his daughters last season. I have started to do comparison testing and spayed all of the 2yr olds that were worse than dam, except I have a few that are worse than their dam but better than everyone else. I'm trying to figure out a way to cull out the worst of the mares without completely decimating my herd; at least until I have more replacements. Do other players have different levels of bootstraps? If so how do you go about sorting them into their respective levels? I'm tempted to comparison test everything to one another like I do for finding benchmark stallions, but that is close to 110 mares, and am not sure I want to get that hardcore just yet. Any ideas?
