Red foal out of black and blue roan ??

Neither parent was homozygous for black. This means they each had one black gene and one red gene. They both passed on the red gene, so you got a red foal.
The only way to guarantee a black foal is to have at least one parent homozygous for black. The first place on their gene test would read EE if that were the case.Post edited by Gael4ce at 2015-04-09 15:51:19Thanked by 1Abbey98 -
Abbey, imagine my surprise the day I bred a black mare to a black stallion and got a palomino foal @-) . The mare was a smokey cream, hiding a Ccr under her black coat, and both mare and stallion were Ee.
Horse color genetics are incredibly complex, even the parts of them that we are beginning to understand. That's one of the fascinating and truly great things about this game. As you play and pay attention to the gene tests, you can learn a lot about how it really works.
