Foundation Horses - Who to keep

    I was wondering how you all handle your foundation horses. do you have a cut off on what to keep and what to sell off? Ie.. color, pt, papers, etc?

    I was noticing that not many foundations are above 11 pt, so would keeping 10.5 be prudent or would you keep lower, depending on papers?

    My foundies are mostly for breeding in pastures, GMTing, and ET mares. I mostly only use ExProducers or Ex Perfect mares for breeding but a few special DP mares like Dark chocolates and Imanis also get to stay.

    I keep all my lined horses for showing regardless of PT. They are my moneymakers, especially my 2nd gens.

    I keep only expro/perf with an occasional chimera RS thrown in and a wide range of genes I try not to keep two mares with similar genes. All experf are b/red 10.40 so you can forget about using that as a standard.
    Licensed for:
    All Axiom
    Ice: 9, 13, 15-19
    RR: wt, PBC, PBW, Nac
    PHAN: dmsp, lace, sku, hrt, shm, jelly, pmk, bird,crit sun star.
    Other: everything but SPM and jewel

    what about those that :"failed" but produced something over 11 pt? would those be something to keep too, or no?

    Do any others (non expro and experf) make good show ponies, or are they just hay burners? If I had unlimited room, I would keep them all lol

    I take my show string as high point creates (over 250) and bred foals (over 10.5)
    Licensed for:

    Some foundations do make good show horses - look for PT scores from 9 to 10.4 (i think that is the highest foundations get).

    Failed horses will not be good breeders but depending on their PT score, could be a good show horse.

    I keep and breed foundations that pass SBA. C/B for boys and Yellow/Red for girls
