Kill buyer?
-
I was reading the rules of the game and one of the rules says there is a kill buyer. I didn't know this. Who is it by chance?Thanked by 1SD Stables

The Fujiyama Super Yum Yum Company (FSYYC) account is the "kill buyer." This is an admin account set up by Ammit. It is not ran by any one individual but automated scripts set up in the coding of the site. FSYYC was created as a realistic avenue for owners to cull unwanted horses. Once a horse is owned by FSYYC it is considered for "rescue" by Hajjnc Rescue or Foundation Rescue (also automated accounts set up by admin), if they meet specified criteria. Otherwise, horses with no foals in the game are completely removed from the game forever and horses with foals go into the Archive.
Once a horse is owned by FSYYC it cannot be bought back unless automatically picked up by Hajinc Rescue or Foundation Rescue. Foundation Rescue horses are then put up for sale. Hajinc Rescue horses are randomly selected to be auctioned through the private auction (Savvyland Auction). To be picked up by the rescue accounts these horses must have no foals, meet a certain quality criteria and be under a certain age (I believe it's 4yo and under).Post edited by Raina at 2015-04-13 11:04:52Imation Stud ID# 2609

That would be Fujiyama Super Yum Yum Company, or FSYYC. It's the one that buys the horses from auction and, if they're great they're sent to rescue, if not they are deleted from the game or 'killed'. And if you choose to sell your horse through the control panel, it goes to FSYYC as well.
Edit: ninja'd by a better explanation.Post edited by lydia at 2015-04-13 11:06:28Thanked by 1Abbey98 -
I feel kinda bad for yumming foals now.
-
There's no reason to feel bad as they aren't real.
Without getting into the politics of it, with a market like the type we have in Hajinc, horse slaughter is a necessary evil and is a realistic alternative to never being able to fully remove a horse from the game.Imation Stud ID# 2609

Here is what Ammit had to say in 2010 about why horse slaughter is part of the game. Why Our Games Contain Horse Slaughter
More then once I have seen a knee jerk "eww" reaction to the idea of horse slaughter on our site. Humane watch has an excellent article about what the consequences of banning horse slaughter has been for horse owners and more importantly for horses themselves.
Horses dieing is sad and upsetting but since we as humans are responsible to make the life of our horses and all of our animals as free of any suffering as possible. And part of making sure an animal does not suffer is to give them a dignified and humane death.
Here is the article

My games contain horse slaughter not to glorify it but because I think every horse lover needs to be aware of it and aware that irresponsible breeding leads to animal death. (That goes for pets too spay and neuter.)
Here are some links to alternate articles on the subject of the unintended effects of the banning of horse slaughter in the US.
