Question on lined horses - CLOSED
  • Ive seen alot of ads saying horse XyZ is 6g or 7g. sine these are "off the papers" how does that affect their foals? Is it better to keep track of these so they arent "uneven?

  • I’m pretty sure there is a way to view the entire pedigree, but I haven’t been able to figure it out yet.
    I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!
  • There is a link to View Full Pedigree on the Family tab of the horse's page.

    I like to keep track by placing the generation number in my horses' names. All either have LC LC2 LC3 etc. I am currently up to LC7, it gets harder to get superior foals each generation.

  • Here is another question. Generations aside, I have been noticing also that on the pedigree, the papers is what shows, not necessarily the PT. Do you get more superior foals by pairing mare and stud with papers instead of pt?

  • you are always better off breeding 2g to 2g etc ; I only use Expro ( B Studs and Red mares ) to start ; 2nd gen colts MUST be A and SUP to sire ; that way you are improving your lines with each generation ; and I also dont worry about PT score until 3rd generation ( Starting with expro it is usually around 10PT ) you dont see a large bump until 3g ;

  • Papers give you an idea of the breeding ability of a horse. PT score gives an idea of how well they will show and how quickly they will move up through the showing level/grades.

    Horses with a PT score between 9.5 and 9.9, for instance will usually add 3 points to their show score when you train them each week. So a perfect foundation whose beginning score is 9, for instance, when created, will add 3 points to its score when first trained and score 12 the next week, 15 the following week, 18 the week after that, and so on.

    The higher the PT score, the more points get added to the show scores with each training.

    It's been a very, very long time since I was keeping track of that data, so I can't be more specific.

    So, no matter what a horse's PT score is, it will never have any affect on the PT scores of its foals. That is determined by the paper level alone.

    When you get to *Star and *Gold, then, since the paper level will not be changing, you keep track of which stallions and mares are doing better at breeding by the increasing average PT score of their foals with each generation. But the more foals a horse has, the better you can compare the average foal PT scores because there's always a range of possible results for that figure.

    Plenty of cases where this is not true. ;) Depends entirely what the aim is.
