    I am heartbroken. I fell in love with this guy, but during SBA he was gelded. I see that I could reverse it, but is it worth it? Or do I just accept the SBA and have a very pretty show pony?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Honestly, I would just accept it. You will probably get a better baby in the future.

    I have never found unaltering worth it when the foal didn't pass BA or SBA. It costs too much, you unalter them, then you have to comparison test to see how much of a boost they need, then you boost. But you still have the possibility of the foal being snipped after all of that.

    A cheaper option is to wait for a full sibling that passes SBA then merge the two.

    I'm not sure that merging two horses would work Silverstar. The second horse only gives the genes for colour, not any of the abilities such as breeding or showing. I agree with your other advice, hopefully another foal will come along that passes SBA/BA.

    Thank you for the input Silver star and White Valley. I thought just leaving him would be the answer.
    Fortunately I still have eggs and straws from his parents, fingers crossed.

    @White Valley, it would if Wldmstnglvr used the better full sibling as the base, and this one as the one that gets merged.

    Generally speaking, that one time I tried to unalter one horse that failed SBA, it was not worth the additional costs of unaltering, boosting and testing. If a horse fails SBA, it's usually for a very good reason.
