Hello?/help? (I'm feeling scared) *resolved*
-
Today I got the "you've been in contact with the virus" call.
I'm vaccinated so I don't have to quarantine unless I have a positive test, and I take the test tomorrow, but I'm still very scared right now. I feel like I'm a danger to my non-vaccinated friends, and I don't know if I should scare them by telling them I got the call, or if not telling them is the worst thing I could do. I don't know what to do. :-((Post edited by Xzeina at 2021-08-10 10:24:52 -
Personally, I would quarantine until I take the test (vaccinated or not) and then only tell them if it is positive.HJ1: 266615

There are 2 schools of thought on this ; just becuase you are vaccinated does not mean you can't catch OR spread the virus ; you just wont get super sick from it If you do catch it.
If you think your freinds came within 6 feet of you ; than its up to you to tell them or not ; if they were "social distancing" then self quarentine and wait to get the results.
In June when i was sick for the entire month and had raging fevers all my COVID tests came back negative ( I took 3 ) but my Dr still to this day thinks i had COVID .. so go figure
-
@DarkFrost I am currently hiding in my room from the world, so check! *sad "lol"*
@annismyrph I'm not sure exactly what you mean by there are two schools of thought; could you explain that a bit more please? -
You're non-vacinated friends likely don't care they've done their risk assessment. It'd be kind to warn them but I wouldn't stress about it. Unless all your friends are in a nursing home or a cancer ward it should be fine. Though if you live in country where vaccines aren't readily available you should of course be more careful, where I am everyone who wants a vax has it.
Edit: If you've been in contact with anyone who WOULD be at high risk you should let them know so they can get tested.Post edited by boredaf at 2021-08-09 15:44:19Licensed for:

@Xzeina ; there are those that believe if you ve been vaccinated ; you can't catch it or spread it .. there are those that believe ; you still can it just wont be as bad ; CDC stated you can but it wont be as bad ....... then again the third train of thought is the vaccine is an excuse for the government to put tracking devices in us so they know where we all are at all times or that the vaccine will cause cancer in lab rats in 50 years because it changes the DNA somehow ; so really the schools of thought are endless. Sorry I didnt explain more thoroughly before :) hydrate stay quarentined and take your test ; dont stress ; we got your back here ^_^

As a non vaccinated person and someone who won’t be getting the vaccine. My perspective is a bit different. You will know your friends best. But I have treated the virus the same way I have for any other sickness. If you get sick stay home, if you have to leave the house be considerate. If you are around someone with the flue or a cold, you don’t eat off of their utensils, don’t drink their water and wash your hands more; they don’t cough or sneeze on you. So if you haven’t been sharing drinks and such, I wouldn’t worry about it until you get your testing back.
-
@boredaf Only one of my friends (that I've been near since I was in contact with someone who tested positive) is still debating getting the vaccine, they're scared to get it(which is frustrating), everyone else has made their choice. And I haven't been near the people I know to be of high risk.
Thanks for the realistic positivity : ) -
@annismyrph people really believe that?! Woah. Also, thanks for the tip!
@Silverstar thanks for sharing your perspective; I hope my non-vaccinated friends can/will see it in a similar light. : ) -
@silverstar exactly people are free to make their choice we don't WANT society catering to us. Just avoid st. Judes for a bit ;) you'll be fine.
@annismyrph we already have trackers there're called cellphones. Why put the effort into injecting people with a tracker when apple's already doing it more efficiently.Licensed for:

@boredaf ; LOL too true but of course the conspiracy theorists dont think that way ; just the Ancient Alien Astronauts built the pyramids and the mayan ruins and took the aztecs back to space with them :)
@Xzeina and @Silverstar ; I am also non vaccinated ; I had a reaction to the flu shot that landed me in the hospital for a week about 10 years ago ; so I ve been told no flu or covid vaccines and to use "universal" precautions. I ve been (social distanced ) in contact with freinds who had it in January and my husband works in the school system ( and is vaccinated ) as an essential employee. AS long as you use good sense, wash your hands, stay hydrated, and self isolate if possibly exposed until testing comes back you should be OK. if you really take this down to the nitty gritty ; it is a very very nasty flu bug. -
The tracker thing is pretty ridiculous, but I understand the hesitancy to get vaccinated for good reasons. I am also not planning to get vaccinated for several reasons, but this probably isn’t the best place to get into that, so I won’t.
At this point I’m pretty sure most people on the planet who don’t live in an isolated area have had some sort of contact with the virus, so contact doesn’t always result in infection or everyone on the planet would have had it already since it existed for several months before we started taking precautions and doing tests. Even if you do have it, it’s not very likely to be severe, so I would try not to overthink it too much and just deal with things as they happen.I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me! -
@annismyrph It would have helped if certain politicians, tech companies and unelected agencies weren't using it as an excuse for a blatant power grab. Stop acting like a cyberpunk technocracy and I'll be happy to stop looking for evil plots everywhere. Also if someone could please read the constitution at some point that'd be nice. Would be happy to take this to PMs I always love a healthy exchange of ideas.

Does anyone have any good jokes?
-
Oh, I have one I saw on YouTube! For some reason on Dance Moms videos people like to comment “you know the drill” then put a number by the name of each cast member and whatever the last digit of your like is is who you are (I really don’t get it and it’s honestly pretty annoying).
So one awesome dude decided to write this comment:
“You know the drill. But do you know the hammer? Man, I nailed that joke! No, wait, I screwed it up...”
I was laughing for a solid ten seconds =))
I’ve also got a Pinterest board full of funny things. I’ll see what I can dig up :DPost edited by Nightphoenix at 2021-08-09 16:46:48I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. @Nightphoenix that is my thought process too. Unless you live under a rock or have been extremely lucky you have most likely come in contact with at least one strain of the vires.
I know I've at had it at least twice, and have come in contact with it multiple times since then. I'm not going to quit living my life because of an illness. We all know there is danger involved when we climb into the saddle, or get in a car, we do it anyway. We weigh the risks, and the rewards are greater than the risk. We take precessions against the dangers, but ultimately do it anyway. -
What do you get when you cross a snowman and a vampire? Frostbite.
Jokes aren't really my thing, sorry. I go watch this week fails on youtube when I need a laugh. -
@Nightphoenix =)) I had no idea where that joke was going so it took me a second, but wow!
@Silverstar another answer could be "Olaf the impaled"! -

One of friends on social showed me this one.
My wife, Judy, had been after me for several weeks to varnish the wooden seat on our toilet. Finally, I got around to doing it while Judy was out. After finishing, I left to take care of another matter before she returned.
She came home and undressed to take a shower. Before getting in the shower, she sat on the toilet. As she tried to stand up, she realized that the not-quite-dry epoxy paint had glued her to the toilet seat.
About that time, I got home and realized her predicament. We both pushed and pulled without any success whatsoever. Finally, in desperation, I undid the toilet seat bolts. Judy wrapped a sheet around herself and I drove her to the hospital emergency room.
The ER Doctor got her into a position where he could study how to free her (Try to get a mental picture of this.)
Judy tried to lighten the embarrassment of it all by saying, "Well, Doctor, I'll bet you've never seen anything like this before."
The Doctor replied...
"Actually, I've seen lots of them I just never saw one mounted and framed." -

A pharmacist comes back from his lunch break, He finds his assistant standing by a customer who seems very tense. “What’s wrong with this man?” The pharmacist asks his assistant. “He has a terrible cough!” The assistant replied. “And there was no cough medicine so I prescribed him laxatives instead.”
The customer gives a soft groan as the pharmacist looks horrified.
“You can’t prescribe laxatives to treat a cough!”
“Well of course you can,” replied the assistant. “Look at the customer, he’s far too scared to cough” -
Reverend Johnson was a new pastor in town and was visiting the homes of his parishioners.
At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door.
When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, Genesis 3:10."
Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.
Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, for I was naked."

Are you waiting for that equine bundle of joy to arrive? Here's a tongue-in-cheek account of one horse-person's foal night-watch:
10:00 pm Gather sleeping bag; alarm clock and three back copies of favorite Equestrian Magazine. Head for barn.
10:01 pm Return to house for bag of chips and a 32 oz Pepsi.
10:10 pm Back to barn. Flashlight goes out half way there. Figure you can make it by memory. Pat faithful ranch dog’s head as he pants and slobbers alongside.
10:11 pm Remember suddenly you have no ranch dog.
10:11 pm Run screaming to house. Change flashlight batteries. Change underwear. Return to barn.
10:15 pm Establish foal-watch headquarters in empty stall next to broodmare.
10:16 pm Enter broodmare’s stall for the 5,687th inspection of the reproductive parts.
10:16 pm Broodmare flattens ears for the 5,687th time.
10:17 pm Sigh audibly, leave stall and head for house. Dial veterinarian just to make sure he’s home.
10:18 pm Replace receiver on phone base rather than where suggested.
10:19 pm Return to barn and squirm into sleeping bag. Set alarm for one hour and shut off light.
10:20 pm Forty thousand sets of tiny feet become active as entire mouse population in the county begin wind sprints in your barn loft.
10:25 pm Sit up when something with not so tiny feet joins wind sprints in loft.
10:26 pm Flick on light – listen to absolute silence.
10:27 pm Flick off light.
10:28 pm Wind sprints resume. Big foot is winning.
11:18 pm Finally fall asleep.
11:19 pm Alarm goes off.
11:20 pm Peek through knothole at broodmare. Mare pins ears.
11:21 pm Reset alarm and flick out light.
11:23 pm Flick on light. Realize 32 oz Pepsi was a mistake. Head for house to “eliminate” problem.
11:26 pm Resist urge to phone veterinarian.
11:27 pm Trot back to barn. Left boot is sucked off in mudhole. Hobble three steps before getting stopped.
11:28 pm Return to house and change one sock.
11:29 pm Walk to barn.
11:30 pm One last check of broodmare though knothole. Ears pinned.
11:30 pm Set alarm for one hour. Turn out light.
11:40 pm Wake suddenly. Check knothole. Mare is lying down!
11:41 pm Enter broodmare stall carrying Ye Olde Foaling Manual, 3 pounds of clean rags, iodine and a tetanus shot. Mare breaks wind and gets up. Pins ears.
11:42 pm Return to sleeping bag. Flick out light.
11:52 pm Flick on light. Remove flake of hay that has accumulated in bottom of bag. Flick out light.
12:01 am Can’t hear clock. Flick on light. Clock is fine. Remove hay from ear. Flick out light.
12:29 am Fall asleep.
12:31 am Alarm goes off.
12:32 am Eyes feel like somebody put sand in them. Stagger to knothole. Extreme close-up of mare’s rear end. No change in reproductive parts. Can’t see ears. Assume pinned.
12:33 am Back into sleeping bag. Set alarm and flick out light. Left foot cramps. Shove foot against bottom of bag to relieve cramp.
12:38 am Cramp over. Relax foot.
12:39 am Left foot turns into a pretzel. Struggle out of bag and hobble around for 5 minutes.
12:44 am Cramp over. Return to bag. Right foot starts to quiver.
01:10 am Fall asleep.
01:39 am Alarm goes off. Sleep right through it.
6:30 am Wake up. Glance at clock. Attempt to leap from bag. Become part of huge polyester/fiberfill wad in hay. Crawl to knothole. Peer into broodmare stall. See TWO sets of pinned ears.
