Any advice for a beginner?
-
I would love some advice for a beginner! I have bought like 20+ foundation horses and 1 horse from another player. I have bred all the breedable females. I also started testing the horses for show potential and breed. I entered all the horses in shows as well. What else should I do to get started off good?
-
Pick your 5 favorite mares preferably exceptional producers or exceptionally perfect anything else that is under 300 points sell for half it's lifetime payout. anything over 300 point geld/spay and keep, that will be your the start of your show string. Choose one stallion exceptional stallion with genes you like and geld/sell/auction the others.
You want no more than one breeder per 3 show ponies.

bordedaf- what is the 300 points you are mentioning? How do i find out of the are exceptional or perfect? I bred all the ones that said they would be good/ok breeders. Thanks for your help!

No problem. The herd helper will say if they are experf, (Rank specials are always at least perfect) on horses you've made you can check the herd helper where it says somatic tattoos. The points should show up both on the barn page in the points column and on the horse page where it says 'total points'.Licensed for:

Yikes ok, I have only 2 horses at 300 :/

Did you create any of your own horses? or did you only buy them ? Creating horses is really the best way to build your show string; I am going to link a couple of really good guides :

I created all but 1. Only one is at 300 points and one at 299. The rest are lower. Thanks for the links!

You can create a mare for 2500 HB, breed her in your pasture for 500 HB, and sell both her and the foal at auction for a minimum of 2500 HB each, for a profit of 2000 HB. You can keep doing this until you use up all your HBs or stall space, for each of the three auctions each week. You can create stallions, buy them from other players, or pick them up at auction. Invest the HBs you make into more barns, and buying high-point horses at auction. It's a bit labor intensive, but you can earn enough HBs to participate in a lot of the fun but expensive stuff like GMTing a lot sooner than by only building your show string.Thanked by 1CianAmore

Yes I make about 100-150K an auction doing that, but it's only a stop gap you should build your showstring while you're doing it.Licensed for:

I will do that with the lower point horses I have, which is most. I can't seem to get "good" horses.

The Foundation Rescue would be a great place to look for show string ponies! Do a horse search for horses for sale, owner ID 13, and advanced sort by All Time Points. They’re all for sale at create cost and, with the advanced sort, will go from most points to least. The highest I can see right now is 332 points but I have found 400 and 500 point horses there. You can also add your own specific filters but I’ll warn you that most of the horses will not be tested beyond Breeding Advice (and some don’t even have that). FR horses are horses that were “saved” from auction for their high level of showing or breeding ability so they’re guaranteed to be of decent quality. Most of the foundations I’ve gotten from there are high pointed with a 9.9 PT, which is the highest a “normal” create can be.
Straight up creating horses will only get you random values unless you use herd helpers like Exceptionally Perfect, Perfect Foundations, Exceptional Show Horses, etc. Foundation Rescue is the same cost but provides much more stability as you know all of the horses available will be of a certain level of quality and ability.Fallen Farms - Grigorian Warmbloods - ID 264430

Fallen- I did look at that last night. All the ones i found 300+ points were 11 and 12 years old. Are those still good?
-
Yeah they will up you daily or you can auction them. They won't be worth as much as 10yo ut they'll still net more than 2500Licensed for:

Another good way is to put, on the search page, in the tattoo box "Exceptional Show Horse"

They’ll get you that daily payout and they usually stay intact through breeding advice so you can get foals out of them too. You’ll have them for a good 4+ in-game years (4 RL months) as horses don’t start having a chance at passing away until they are 17 or older. You can also filter the search by age if you don’t want anything older than 10 years.Fallen Farms - Grigorian Warmbloods - ID 264430
