DP?
-
What, exactly, is DP, and why does everyone see to want it?
-
DP is a real-life, non-testable (in game) attribute of recessive Extension which controls red pigment. DP stands for dense pheomelanin and its presence increases the production of pheomelanin, darkening the red color of the coat. It produces liver chestnuts, and, when homozygous and in conjuction with sooty, "black" chestnuts, "black" palominos and buckskins. It is enhanced by heterozygous Ssty and even more by homozygous SstySsty.

It is extremely rare, both in real life and in the game. Ammit recently introduced it to the general gene set (not limited edition) and it's all the rage, along with the two additional variations to bay--At (brown), and A+ (wild bay).Thanked by 1woodhaven farms -
Thank you! That explains a lot. I was trying to look at the genes (which I'm still fairly clueless about!) but I couldn't see anything that I figured was DP. Thanks :)
