What does "days in pasture" do exactly?
-
This is my first time using the pasture, and I see that it says to leave mares in the pasture for better ability foals. But what does that mean?
Do I recall correctly that mares in the pasture don't breed or show or something? I'm just breeding these mares for auction income (mostly exceptional producer foundation mares, to an A/10.4 stallion I bought), but I feel like I should understand the process better for the future.
Do horses in the pasture still make their daily income?
Thanks for any help.

Yes they do still make their daily income.Licensed for Mushroom,Onyx, Watercolor, Ice 13, ice 16, Phantom lace, Phantom Diamond sparkle.

If I have it right, the more days in pasture, the more likely the mares are to produce foals of a quality at the top range of the mares' ability to produce. I don't think it's the same as boosting the mares' breeding ability itself, just a way to ensure they produce the best foals their paper level allows.
Mares in pasture can't be shown (which would earn them more points), but they continue to earn you their daily income based on the points they already have. However, mares no longer lose their accumulated days in pasture immediately upon being removed, so I think it's now possible to remove them into a barn, show them, and then get them back into the pasture before nightly rollover without losing days in pasture. I haven't tested that out yet though. -
The longer a mare is in pasture the higher pasture bonus they receive. It's like giving a mare a boost or two with full 30 days in pasture. Also lessons chances of getting a spay/geld. In all a mare with 30 days pasture Will have resulting foals with less spay/geld and have a greater chance papering up from parentThanked by 1lecobb

ClynnRose, you're correct. I pulled my mares out of the pasture yesterday, showed them, and put them back in the pasture. Today, they have gained another day with no losses. Thanks for the tip!
Anyone know if mares in the pasture still train (I have a basic account, so auto train), or if I will need to pull them out for that too? -
They will auto-train :) in pasture no need to pullThanked by 1lecobb
