I can't find any information about brands besides under "Basic Member Upgrade" saying that "All foals you breed carry your own brand".

I have a Basic upgrade, but I can only find where I can create a tattoo. I made one but it costs money to place it on my foals. Are there both tattoos and brands in the game?

And with tattoos, is there a list or picture of the different tattoo locations and their names? I was trying to figure out where I would like to place mine but it is getting expensive taking them off. On other horses with tattoos it doesn't show the name of where the tattoo is placed...

I'm not entirely certain what the quotation you listed refers to. I expect that it most likely refers to choosing your own breed name.

As for tattoos, they can be placed in any one of the corners of the image and on a variety of locations on the horse itself. Tattoos placed on the lip will be invisible, since they're inside the horse's mouth.

Here's one of my horses with a tattoo in each of the locations.

Calgary Mission

Upper Left: SCA Chocolate
Upper Right: Exceptional Producers
Lower Left: Christmas
Lower Right: Gilded Fire (a tattoo I made for that player)
Hip: SCA Homebred
Thigh: SCA Drafts
Wither: SCA Gulastra Plume
Shoulder: Eos Line
Neck: SCA Pearl
Jaw: SCA Even 5th Gen

The Heterozygous Cream tattoo she came with is on her lip, invisible.

Most of the time, she wears only my SCA Homebred and SCA Drafts tattoos.

-- Customizable stable page.
-- Auto trainer, trains all your horses for you automatically.
-- All foals you breed carry your own brand.
-- Collect and save straws from stallions for future breedings.
-- Use the straws or sell them to other members.
-- A total of 75 stalls in your primary barn and a 60 acre primary pasture.

Cost is 30 Iv's for one years upgrade.

Very old out of date info. We no longer have brands in the game. THanks for catching this. :)
