Yes, those three extra stalls are the bonus stalls you've earned by breeding and creating horses. Once you've earned a new stall, it will automatically appear in your Primary Barn and will remain there. When I first started playing (almost 10 years ago now), it took creating or breeding 200 horses to get one bonus stall.

Selling a horse either by auction, selling back to the game, or selling the horse to another player decreases the growth toward a new stall.

Every horse you create or add by breeding is equal to one half of a percentage point. Selling a horse decreases total bonus stall points by one half of a percentage point.

I'm not sure if losing horses by aging out decreases the bonus stall progress by one half a percentage point for each one. ConfluenceStable probably can answer that definitively.

This aspect of the game functions automatically without any additional input by the player.

@SandyCreekAcres ; there have been a few changes :) Only selling horses in Auction decreases your stall count now :)
