Tiger Eye Question
-
The little pop-up for the Tiger Eye gene says, "...boldy reduced pigment resulting in eyes ranging from orange to blue depending on genetics."
I was wondering if anyone knew which genes effected the different colors. Like if certain genes were more likely, or certain, to produce a blue eye effect vs. an orange eye. And if TE1 vs. TE2 has any part in determining eye color as well. -
Tigers eye only effects the eye color.
Edit : I had to reread the article below, it reacts similar to a dilute gene but not as dramatic as a dilute gene. It actually works with the dilute coat modifiers. The article below has some nice examples
If you look on the horse search, you can find all kinds of examples :
TE1
TE2
TE1 & TE2
Here is the article from when Tiger Eye was released

Thank you, that article is super helpful! I had searched the genes in the past, but the outcome seemed so random. Now that I've read it plays off of other dilute genes, it makes a lot more sense.
It also confirms that TE1 and TE2 do not create different results.
Plus I have a lot of Cr and Prl genes in my breeding program, so I'm excited that those might help me get some blue eyes when mixed with my TE!
