What are the differences between Inkspot & Toner?
-
Is one more prominant on a dark base vs a lighter base color?
Thank you for your help. -
@Visions ; here is the discussion Ammit set up when she first intro'ed it :

Here's my time to shine! ;) With all these examples, keep in mind that a reroll can completely change the colors and patterns, almost infinitely. Half of the fun is rerolling portraits!
Inkspot is what it sounds like, a big blotch of color. Below are some examples with dark and light base coats.

Toner will alter the base color of a horse. It works well with a lot of other fantasy genes. From what I remember, it might work slightly better with lightening genes like pangare plus, and cream genes like pearl.

R 2$ Alchemilla
And then if course, they work really well together!

If you need more examples, my rainbow ponies are in my "unicorn" barn :)
I think the below link should work.

Listen, making unicorns is now an obsession of mine. Once you start you can't stop =)) I would recommend a chimera for a foundation of you're thinking of making a line! You get twice the color combos that way hehehe. It also works well with chinchilla and onyx. I've got a few mushroom and chocolate ponies scattered around in there too!

Thank you so much for this. I hope I can add these licenses to my herd.

From these examples I find toner almost indistinguishable from wtLicensed for:
All Axiom
Ice: 9, 13, 15-19

PHAN: dmsp, lace, sku, hrt, shm, jelly, pmk, bird, crit sun star.
Other: everything but SPM and jewel -
@boredaf, Toner is slightly more subtle in color than watercolor, I think, and doesn't show as much on dark horses. But another important difference is that toner is an allele on a different rainbow riot gene than watercolor, so you can have both and inkspot all on the same horse.

Ah I see. If you have wt and tnr on the same horse would you get two different colors?Licensed for:

I think the two effects will overlap and the colors will sort of mix. Also, watercolor will make red pigment and black pigment each into different colors. So for example a watercolor bay will be two toned just from the watercolor. But toner gives a sort of hue effect to the overall coat, it doesn't actually change the base colors to different colors, just puts a film over them.

I've noticed that on plain non-sooty chestnuts, watercolor and toner can look a lot alike, because it's not a two-toned horse to begin with, so watercolor won't make it two-toned, and it's also light enough that toner can be quite vibrant, like watercolor.
