A New Year - A New Stallion giveaway
-
A new year rolled around and I discovered that I have more stallions than I can ever use.
So, I decided to give some stallions away! This contest is open to new players, who started within the last 6 months, (July 1st).
Here are the rules
1. New players from July 1st to present
2. Pick a stallion from my stallion lineup. A majority of them has passed sba, but I did not do all of them. You may request a sba check if you wish
3. Show me your prospective mare in her best tack
4. Since I may be hard pressed to get rid of any of my boys, tell me why you deserve (or dont deserve) this stallion.
5. Tell me a little horse related story of something that happened to you. (Make it funny)
6. There will be 5 winners, The first place can pick 5 stallions, 2nd place 4 stallions, etc
Here is my list!

AVR Designer Series 2AN
SVLD International 2g
Not sure if I "deserve" a stallion lol but I'm already seeing that I have stallion hoarding tendencies :D . I am actually a bit like this in real life too - we breed sheep & cows and it kills me to wether a really nice prospect :)) I also generally geld the studs I have for a while and keep them in my show string if for some reason I can't use them anymore (unless they would really benefit someone else's breeding program)
For a funny horse story, it wasn't very funny when it happened but it is hilarious to me now. I was about 6 or so and already a horse crazy kid, and I was petting a cute little pony at a local petting zoo. I turned to leave and the little stinker latched on to my shoulder. I felt so betrayed lol, it was a minor bite luckily but still was my first horse-related injury. That's the day that I learned ponies are short because they like to stay closer to hell, which is where they are from :))Starstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

AVR Midnight Law XS
WM Twisted Sister
I don't know about "deserve", but Midnight Law would make an amazing addition to my growing breeding program. I just got started, and I'm excited to see where I can go with it!
As for a funny horse story, I have several, but one of my favorites involves a chestnut Shetland mare named Juliet. I was working at a local stable at the time, and Juliet was the little escape artist that prefered escaping to hang out with the big horses, rather than staying in her own pasture with the other ponies. As I was cleaning her stall, she tried to escape again, but I managed to block her in. Her response was to back up, take aim, and poop on my boots! She could be cute sometimes, but I guess when you mix Shetland pony with chestnut mare you get a vindictive little escape artist!:DPost edited by MackZ at 2022-02-05 12:45:35 -
Here's my mare:
Legato
Here's my desired stallion:
AVR Midnight Apple 2A
I would like this stallion because I breed for roan, which seems a thing that is uncommon here. This way this horse will get used and not just be a pretty show string horse.
I tried a CIT program at a summer camp in high school. I found out that I definitely did not want to work with kids as my job (still don't). A bunch of kids were away from home for the first time. I finally snapped and told one she was being a brat. I confessed this to another counselor, and she said she called the same camper naughty.
At that camp, I helped to get horses out of the field and ready to ride. I got to ride once or twice, even trotting for the first time.Game number 273531

Here is my prospect mare, I love her to pieces:
ES EyecatchingDistraction
My favorite boy:
AVR Sky Diamond 2AMOT
(the stallion does not need to pass sba I am breeding for color)
I always loved phantom, and I am currently breeding DP and livers but I love satin too. He would make a great addition to my breeding program to produce some great foals.
One time, my Mom was scrolling through her facebook and she found an ad for 2 OTTB (off track thoroughbred) mares. They look like they were made out of spare parts! No wonder they were off the tracks because if a horse like that were to race it probably couldn't gallop out of a starting gate, Not even race at all! The next day she showed the pictures to my trainer and she couldn't belive what she saw.
Sometimes when I go to my barn and I don't have a lesson, there is an old bay pony gelding named Casper. Casper looks like a shetland pony but taller at 14 hands. He is like a little 2 year old, he gets in the way, he knocks stuff down, licks out grain buckets that need to be cleaned and tries to sneak bite other horses treats or hay. I love him right now because he looks like a baby floofy cinnamon black bear.

Hi,
You have some GORGEOUS stallions!
But this guy caught my eye.
AVR Nahaseem 3A
I'm not one to believe I necessarily deserve a stallion, however, It would be very nice to get my foot in the door of HAJ. I just joined a few days ago. I think I already have a decent, but tiny, breeding and showing line that just started and is in its baby phase. This would be a great step up and surely helpful on my journey of HAJ!
However, I cant wait for this little one to grow up and start my third generation. She is, as of now, my prospect mare :)
Slipped in Paint
But if we're going for favorites, this lady has DEFINETLY won my heart.
1G EP Darker Than Sin
For a story,
my younger mare Paige, who dutifully fits the "chestnut mare" stereotype, is not one that particularly likes humans or human interaction.
But have mercy when it comes to cheek scratches. No, not that cheek. buttcheek scratches. She LOVES them. She will follow me around the pen and turn so I can scratch her cheeks. I love the little lip wiggle they do, when you just KNOW you're hitting that itch spot.
I both hate and love her at the same time.
She's a funny one.
Anyway, I know its not super funny but it puts a smile on my face.

What is the chestnut mare stereotype? Did you mention it in your post?Game number 273531

Chestnut mares are the horse version of a red-headed woman: big personality, quick tempered, and moody. Of course, it doesn't always apply, but it often does. Ask almost any horse person and they'll likely have stories about some crazy chestnut mares. :D

@MackZ So very true! I certainly can tell a story or two about mine! :))

Is this still going? I love reading people's funny horse stories and was hoping to read more...

It is, but no one really respondedThanked by 1MackZ

I didn't think I had funny horse story, but I realized I did.
When I was young I was into horses and my dad grew up with a horse so eventually I wore him down and we bought one. A young Appaloosa filly that was white with really faint sandy colored spots on the rump. Dixie.
My sister purchased a new truck. It was new new. All her other vehicles were clunkers with issues. She was very excited about it. She kept shooing the cows and Dixie away from it. The cows just stayed away from it.
Dixie was apparently annoyed. She waited until everyone was inside and she walked over to the truck and locked her teeth on the top driver's side of the truck bed and bit hard. We heard a horrible scratching noise. I thought my sister was going to kill Dixie. Luckily she found humor in telling the story. People couldn't believe a horse bit her truck. After that, Dixie didn't go near the truck. It was like once she gave her opinion, she was done.
If possible, I would love AVR Lotta Snow 2AN or any other stallion you are willing to give away. (I do not have any licenses.) -
I’d love a free stallion, invite me to your chat room?

I don’t have much of a story but when I was young, I bought my first horse. A Fleabitten grey mare named freckles who had been Barrel raced.. I finally took her out one day on a dirt Road and she did a hard stop.. I was as green as I could be, so I flew right over her head and landed on the ground in front of her. I’ll never forget the look that mare gave me.. what the heck you doing there?Post edited by Fiddler at 2022-04-02 17:19:38
