I bred my mare NSH Lovely (3061638) to a Roundtable Rival (2927348) at the time I had room for the foal but I never got it. When I tried to click on the page it said it was dead. I know the stud doesn't carry colors that when in homozgous the foal is dead.

If memory serves me right, Sabino 1 and White 2 are fatal together. So odds are it was born dead.

Lydia is right. All of the whites are lethal when homozygous and lethal combined with any of the others. All sabinos are safe when homozygous or when combined with each other. Sabino 1 and Sabino 2 are lethal when combined with White 1 and White 2. Frame (Olw) is lethal when homozygous.

What this means in practice is that when you breed two horses, each of which carries one of the "dangerous" genes, there is a 1 in four chance that the foal will get a copy of both, one from each parent, and die. This does not mean that you can make such crosses three times safely. It means that there is a chance for a dead foal every time you make such a cross.

I dont think thats the problem guys.. I looked up bith horses and neither are white.. but Lovely shows she has not been bred this year. Is it possible you grabbed the wrong horse?

I did a search by her name and it looks like NSH Lovely is only a 2 year old, so she can't be bred.

Go with the ID number. They meant that horse's dam, who has a very similar name.

Didn't White 1 used to be able to have homozygous ones?

Nope, no white can be homozygous, its lethal.
