Silly Questions still need answers
-
After 20, can a horse still breed? Can it still compete? Some of my older horses make pretty good income at this age.
I didn't know they could be up to 40 years old.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-02-10 22:45:00 -
Training: Leveled Off
Earnings this year: 14 hb's
Points this year: 1.0
Total earnings: 2520 hb's
Total points: 403
Daily Payout: 43 hb's
Current Lifetime Payout: 4773 hb's
How can earnings this year be 14 yet daily payout is 43 hbs?
Sorry, I forgot to make note of which horse this was. But more than one has similar data.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-02-09 04:23:56 -
No, horses stop being breedable when they turn 20. However, they can still be shown until they age out of the game.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

Show earnings depend on what Level/Grade a horse is showing at, and where it likely finishes. If they are in Local classes, the prize money will not be a high as it is in National, Regional, and World classes. And horses do level out with scores that put them at or near the bottom of the class.
This game year is still very young, so the earnings this "year" will still be quite low, if the horse is finishing near the bottom of its classes. A link to that particular horse will help answer your question.
The showing bonus is not counted in the earnings, just the cash prizes won in each show.

Here's one, I can't remember details on which horse the one mentioned above is.
G1 XPer 81Hb 11120904
So, as long as the daily payout is bigger than the earnings this year, keep showing the horse (assuming it's a decent payout such as above 75) or does it need the numbers to be the other way round, the earnings be higher than the daily pay out? (This one will be auctioned as the horse is scoring low, not in the top of it's class, if I understand the way this works )Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-02-09 04:50:16 -
Recently she seems to be placing mostly between 6th to 9th in her 7 Regional Classes. It costs 12 hbs to enter her in a show.
Her cash prizes range from 42 to 21 hbs per show.
Her showing bonus appears to be about 81 hbs per day. At least that is today's bonus. Her showing bonus appears to be between 2 and 4 times her cash prizes, depending on where she places, although the entry fees will subtract from the earnings 2 times a week.
Right now she's holding 757 points and appears to have added 6 points to her total since the beginning of February.
She's certainly not a great money maker, but I think she's coming in on the plus side for adding a small amount to your income each game year. If you've got lots of upcoming horses that are doing better than she is, you might want to auction her.
At any rate, that's how I'm analyzing the numbers in her record. I could always be wrong. My mind runs more to language than math. :DPost edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2022-02-09 13:33:57Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
:D i truly appreciate you explaining that to me
now I just gotta figure out where you got those numbers from. i've sort have been culling based on records, if they're below half way, i've been auctioning them. I have a suspicion i'm missing a the point here. I've got a lot of upcoming foals and 2 year olds who are extra perfect and exceptional producers, hopefully they'll make up for my errors -
You can find out the entry fees for all the Level/Grades by going to Showing--My Show Entries. There are two charts on that page, one gives the entry fees for each class and the second tells how many horses can be entered in each.
If you go to a horse's Records tab, you will see (as I expect you know) where your horse placed in all its recent shows. The last two shows will be live links (provided the horse has shown twice in the current week. If not, only the last show will be live.) Following the link or links brings you to the Show Results page, where you will see a list of all the horses in the class, the name of each horse, its owner, the number of points added to the owner's record, and the cash prizes.
This data will help you figure out whether it's costing you more to keep on entering a horse or if it is making some profit as well as adding something worthwhile to your showing bonus.Thanked by 1annismyrph -
At the beginning of each month I look at what class the horse is showing in; and the cost to enter the class (this cost times 2 is what it costs me every week to keep the horse in its stall providing no "damages" ) I then look at the daily pay out ; if the cost is greater than the daily payout i toss the horse in auction ; if the payout is More than 4 times the class costs (times 2 of course) i keep it ; if its between 2 and 4 I add "a" to the name and revisit the horse at the end of the month to see where it is ; if you use search within each show barn its fairly easy to do this :)Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

thank you for going into detail, i was getting confused because when i went looking for the data, i couldn't figure out where it is.
