Do horses die when they reach 20?

    I'm going through my herd, trying to make sure I don't have poorly showing horses. I have a bunch (both lousy show scores, some have good scores on the records page who are 19.

    So, I'm wondering if I'd be best to auction them now rather than let them turn 20 where I would get nothing if they die.

    No, I believe they can live until they're 40, although it's rare to see one that old.

    here is my " Old Man " ; he is 31 and earns 189 HB daily ; not a ton but def enough for him to earn his stall.

    Horses have a chance of dying at each rollover starting when they turn 18. They will continue to earn hbs toward your daily payout until they die. If they have a good show score they will continue to add points and increase their daily payout. So any age 17+ horse that is still earning decent points in each show may be worth the gamble that it will survive its next rollover, while ones that have leveled off at bad score might be better auctioned now.

    @mimitabby ; if they have had offspring they are "Archived" , if they haven't they are removed from the server

    The reason they're archived (saved) if they 've had foals is so the pedigree will still work. If they don't have offspring, there's no need to keep them on file so to speak.
