How is pangare Designated?
  • Some of the genes on the game are signified as inactive when lower-case (e/E, for example). Does this hold for pangare? Take this guy, for example:

He is p/p. Does that mean he is homozygous for pangare?

Breeder of Black Tobiano, Sabino, and Bay Kit M

  • This horse is HOM p/p but as you can see has No lightening effect on his flanks ( and is in fact the basis of my "black liver" line )
am pretty sure p/p is NON Pangare

In the Genetics Guide though woefully out of date ; the examples of both Het and Hom Pangare show belly / flank and muzzle lightening (link is below)

  • Pangare is one of those genes coded a little weirdly when compared to others in the game.

I think it's because the foundation of all horses are thought to have been pangare and non-pangare is the mutation.

So when you see a lower case "p", that is a gene for non-pangare.

Where it gets funky is the gene for Pangare isn't shown in game like other genes.
  • Thank you for your help. Good to know I am not the only confused one here.
