Can't mass flush a mare?

  • Heya all.

I bought a mare on the sales list. She had no offspring, so I figured she was free to be GMTed.

When I went to mass flush her, she wasn't showing on the list. I looked and saw that she had been bred. I checked where the eggs were in my AI lab, nothing was listed.

Wasn't there supposed to be a warning that a horse had straws/eggs stored when available for purchase and I missed it?

Since I was still able to GMT her, I'm not really fussed about it, just really confused.
  • She could have had a foal that was sold back to the game or been used as an embryo transfer recipient. Either of those would result in her having been bred this month but not having any offspring.

  • If you GMTed her, you must have bred her yourself, already flushed her, or had her up for breeding. Using an egg/embryo does not make it so that she can not have eggs pulled.

  • You want to look for living foals under the family page if you're going to GMT, but it's the "bred this year" on her front page that determines whether or not you can breed her or pull eggs this month. Probably this year's foal was sold back to the game, or she could have been used for embryo transfer, or (for horses with the lethal white genes) the foal died at birth. Any of these or an egg flush will have the mare designated as bred this year, and then she can't be used for any breeding until next year (month)

  • Ah, hadn't thought about the possibility she could have been used for ET or a stillbirth before she was put up for sale by her old owner.

Thanks, now I feel less confused.
