Trouble deciding?

How do you guys decide what horses to keep and which to sell? I love them all.

That is a hard question. Really for me it’s more a matter of gelding/spaying. To make that easier I have a set of goals for my horses. I put all of my horses through BA testing, then I paper test them and geld/spay any horse that doesn’t meet that generations paper requirements (each players requirements are different) then I spay geld the ones who don’t meet my long term color goals.
I try to keep all of my geldings/spayed horses, my minimum goal is to have a 3 to 1 ratio, three spelded horses for every breeder. So when I was first starting out I did whatever I had to do to keep as many spelded horses as possible. Because I kept those show ponies they slowly started paying for everything on this game. Now I’ve reached a balance where I don’t have to sell any horse I don’t want to because my show bonus is good enough to pay for extra barns. It takes time to get show herd to this point, but it’s worth it.

Any horse that doesn't fit my color and paper goals is kept out of my breeding pool. If they have special or Homozygous genes that are harder to find, I'll offer them for sale(intact if they passed BA). Spayed/gelded horses I usually keep at least until their training is leveled off, then only sell/auction them if they aren't showing well. I'm still pretty new, so my herd is still changing and expanding, and my show herd isn't quite to the point that I can buy more barns/pastures, so I'm waiting to see how that will eventually work out. Right now, my ratio of show to breeding horses is about 50/50, so I'm trying to adjust that.
