Priced horse too high?
-
I'm puzzled. A Clean Slate was auctioned for 3 million, but when I priced mine at 2.5 million, it was voted priced too high. What did I do wrong?
-
Can you link the one who sold for 3 mil? Maybe it had more unique genes?Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

And yes, it has some gmt work done, so that may be the problem. -
This might give you a better price guide.

That horse went for 3 million because he is still able to be GMT'd and has 2 Ice genes on him that can only be bought for real money through the RGS.
Hope that helps a little. ;)Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
I sold the foal of mine back to the game, doesn't that delete the foal from the horse's records? So that you can gmt again?
And thank you for explaining and the examplesPost edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-04-27 23:24:57 -
Ice genes can no longer be purchased year round through the RGS, so I'm sure that contributes to his higher price as wellThanked by 1OopsDotCom

Also, a horse that is auctioned already has a buyer lined up. Just listing a horse on the board will almost never sell for nearly the same price as one that has already found its new owner.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Thank you, Ladies and Gents, for your help on this. I really appreciate you taking time to sort me out.
And Ice genes are no longer available at all?Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-04-28 10:22:13 -
Ice genes will only be available each December from now on. There was a post about that last time they were available. There was a sale on them before they got pulled from the RGS rotation. I'll see if I can find that post.
Edit: Here's the post on ice genes being retired:

Thank you. I have been ignoring the information about the special genes coz I could never afford them, but now I suspect if I want my horses to sell well to bring in income, I'm going to have to give it serious thought.

Really will make far more money by showing rather than trying to sell. Selling has never been a viable income maker in the game. (Or real-life horses to be perfectly honest)Need to contact me? Read this first.

Usually, you can't count on getting what you paid for a horse with RGS genes (assuming you paid another member with hbs to add the genes), unless they're still very young (under five I'd say), GMTable, and have a combo of genes that is popular or easy for the new owner to finish however they like. Your market is also limited by the licenses other players already have, and people who have the licenses for the genes of the horse you're selling probably already have what they want and are likely to be more particular. Selling lined horses will have the same issue. People who wouldn't be as particular about the genes and quality will probably be people who don't have the license anyway. The exception here might be superior mares, since they're always beneficial and useful in a breeding program, but extra stallions, unless they're very special and superior, will be hard to place.

Thank you again!
