    Hi guys, long time no see! Random question for you...
    I will be judging a horse show this weekend, it's the military drill team I rode in as a kid. Basically the kids ride rental horses and I am judging on equitation in the individual classes. There are always quite a few new kids, all in the same class. I kinda wanted something cute to say to them that they might remember as they continue their riding careers. My thoughts were to ask if they were nervous, and if any say yes, say that it's ok to be nervous but to not forget to have fun, etc etc. I don't want to be too cheesy, but they will probably be 9-10 years old so not quite old enough to want to roll their eyes I hope.
    Sooo... What's the best simple advice you've heard from a judge or a coach regarding a show?

    Awh that's so sweet!
    The best thing I heard, was when I was riding my dressage test and over the loud speaker, the guy who was telling people what classes were on said 'if anyone wants to see some talent they should head to arena 1, this girl is doing an amazing job, you'd have to travel far to see talent like this.' Aha, I couldn't stop smiling for days.

    But for your situation maybe you could say things like 'lovely combination, you got the horse working so well, if you keep riding like that you've got a promising future etc.' all things that make them feel good about themselves and that they're progressing in the right direction. :)
