Why can't I GMT pearl on to this horse?
-
She has one copy, and I wanted two.
3BL 111 Snow Emerald
If I click her sire's "-" for cream, it says "Your horse has the - allele for this Cream gene. No edits are available for this gene".
If I click her dam's "prl", it only lets me change it to "-".
I clicked around to a few random horses and their "-" let me choose either cream or pearl.

It's because one strand is from the mare and the other is from the stallion. Since the stallion doesn't carry Pearl, she can't have it GMT'd on. If the stallion carried a single copy and Snow Emerald missed it, then you would be able to GMT it onto her.Thanked by 1Nightphoenix

Oooh, I didn't realize that was how it worked.

Yep! For lined horses, you can’t add any genes that they could not have naturally inherited from their parents. You can only do that with foundations :)I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!
