Breeding Question
-
so I have a father and a son, stallions, son tested better than father, he's an A and dad's a B. I have a bunch of red foundation mares and a couple of yellow to breed to them. I'm afraid that if I use the son, the mares won't be good enough.... what should I do?
-
Ideally you'll want to use the son on the second generation foals. I breed yellow to red foundations sometimes and I get some spelds and some passing. The pasture bonus helps a lot when you do that thoughStarstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

For the best results you'd use same generations to same paper.
i.e. 2nd generation mare that is papered Blue bred to a 2nd generation stallion that is papered A.
Even with breeding like that, you might still get a lot of altered horses that don't pass inspection. But it's just for better results, of course you can breed a 1st generation Red mare to a 2nd generation B stud and get a good result, it's a little bit of luck. But keeping paper levels together usually come with the best results :) Hope I could help -
To get the BEST foals use the best quality horse you have. If you want the most intact foals, match quality. Personally, I think it is better to have better foals but some people want more intact foals.
