Advancing my Stable Questions
-
I received a DM that I was underpricing my sale horses (should be lifetime earnings divided by 2) and that made me completely stop and think I’m doing everything wrong!
No fault of the person who pointed it out, thank you actually!!:)
But, that got me thinking, what should I be doing to advance my barn / get it to where I’m making a good “living” so to say.
I don’t want to collect a bunch of show horses, and this is what I’m currently doing:
Trying to breed for higher PT scores, I won’t keep anything Under 10.00 or that’s inconsistent (no matter the PT score.) I purchase horses with Blue / A papers when I buy from the sales or the auction, using the daily herd helpers to help me build my breeding stock / get points. And trying to breed to higher point horses when I do breed.
Any / all advice welcome. Thank you!Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
welcome! while it's nice to have breeding gosls, you also need to collect a whole bunch of neutered animals to support your breeding program.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

Well, you're going to have to collect a bunch of show horses to make a good income :)
There are some excellent write ups on here that hopefully someone will share on here (on my phone currently so I can't easily look up the links)
When you're a new member, the horses you create have bonus points. This is only for a limited time, so you want to take advantage of them. You can either sell them to other users, usually for around half of the lifetime payout of points, or you can keep them to increase your daily payout and get a head start on your show barn.
The number of points a horse has decides how much money that horse makes for you each day. Other than those first pointed creates you can only get points by showing. Geldings and spayed mares generally train more quickly and make more money. IIRC, it's recommended to have 2-3 show horses for every breeding horse you own.
It can be a bit of a long haul to build up a good income, bit focusing on a good show herd will pay off well in a few monthsStarstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

I bought a couple horses and sent a few HBs to help you out, just paying it forward from when older members helped me when I started :)Starstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest
