Normally this would be a day to celebrate. This year, however, I am definitely not in the mood to celebrate.
Yes, we won our independence from the UK but at what cost?
That is what I am asking myself. It seems to me that the UK has made great strides in social welfare and civil rights (from an American perspective) yet ... we are backsliding and losing decades of progression now that a certain subgroup of the population has gained power.

Forestshadow while I agree with your take the hurts are so strong and the divide so bitter that I am not sure there is a safe way to have this conversation without it becoming nasty. I am trapped between my values and the restrictions inherent to being a community manager. It is a shitty line to have to walk. If you keep messages to love and support or to how you are doing personally they are welcome. Our rules strongly prevent political discussion though to keep things civil.
