How do you decide which horses to leave for GMT'ing?
-
I've been playing for almost a year now, and I've only just started to mess with GMT'ing my horses or buying the RGS genes. Something I fairly quickly ran across was that I had already bred me "best" options for creating a certain project.
Do you all have long term plans you keep and eye out for? Just find an appropriate horse on a whim? -
I tend to go with my favorite RS heard helpers, create them as yearlings and work on them from there. That way I’m already starting with a base of the non-licensed/fantasy genes that I love and only need to add a few things.Licensed for: All Axiom Genes, All Rainbow Riot 1 & 2 Genes, Splash M, Phantom except for Wisp, All Ice, Mushroom, Onyx, DFP2, Shatterglass, Chinchilla, Platinum and Height Regulator

I either do the same thing as above, or if I'm trying to start a new project with a lot of fancy genes and want a simple base, just any exceptional producer with as close to the base I want as possible.
In my case they must have at least one DP because I always make my GMT projects hom, but double DP is preferred to save on costs. If you want dun horses, you could look for that, or if phantom, ones with lots of white, etc. :)Post edited by Heartwood at 2022-08-01 18:31:35ID: 247225

Collector of tall, dark dappled riding horses in all shades. -
If I don't already have an appropriate horse on hand to put the RGS genes on, I'll go look through the herd helper share page until I find one that fits what I need and just use that. I already have lots of stallions that I don't regularly use, so I usually do a 2-year-old filly so that I have more time to add genes if I want.Might be addicted to pixel ponies...
