What Would Be the Best Use of my Money re: GMTs?

    I'm very excited by the prospect of adding some closed genes via GMT but can likely add only one due to limits on funds. I have 11 right now and am aiming for 20 to get Shatterglass. The math for the additional 9 would be

    12500 HB/IV*10 IVs/token*9 tokens
    =1,125,000 HBs, which I do have and will likely do, given my results in the scavenger hunt thus far. However, it's about a quarter of my total funds. Is such an expenditure wise?

    The first problem is this: should I wait and see if I get any better results in the hunt, or do I spend now?

    The second problem is this: I would love to get watercolor as well. Following the same math as above for 25 tokens yields an outlay of 3,125,000, which, on top of other expenditures, would wipe me out. Alas.

    I'm not sure if I am asking for advice or just confirmation of my own feelings at this point, but if you have ideas on how I should proceed, I am interested.

    Seeing how much GMTs cost makes me in awe of people like Tawny Eclipse who can easily fund GMT work with IVs.

    I don't know what your daily bonus is, but you could also consider how long it would take you to earn some of those IVs back to help determine how much you're comfortable spending.

    I got impatient (and wasn't getting many scavenger hunt points) so I went ahead and got toner with leftover sea pony GMTs, but if you think there's still a chance you could get one of the top spots, it might be worth waiting until closer to the end of the event.

    I've been away for a while, so I can't say for sure how often closed gene sales in the GMT lab are (outside of Gift Exchanges), but if you're not able to spend real money on the game, it might be worth picking them up now, since you don't know when the next chance will be.

    GMTing is super expensive, but for people with a good show herd and high winnings + daily bonus, it can take them much less time to recover the costs. Just goes to show how important those show ponies are :) Just some thoughts, I hope this might help you work things out a bit!
