Cloning then changing gender Question Answered
  • I have a stallion, I would like to clone him and change his gender to female. But when you clone, it shows the university as it's breeder. would I still be able to change gender on him when his breeder is the university?

  • You should be able to. The only thing you can't do to a horse that's not bred by you is to unalter them.

  • The original horse does not change breeder name. I cloned this horse.

As you can see he still carries my breed name. This is the clone which is University bred but I changed her to female and also changed a couple of genes.

As long as you bred/created the original horse you should be able to clone and then change gender.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

  • Thank you!
  • Breeder name does not matter as far as changing genes, gender, bone, or height. The only stipulation is that you own the horse and there are no foals to the horse.

Breeder does matter as far as clone or unalter. So, for example, when you clone, the breeder name changes to Haj University. The cloned horse retains your breed name, that doesnt change.

You can take that clonedhorse and change whatever on it but be careful on running it through breeding advice. You wont be able to unalter it if it gets snipped

  • Thank you.
  • I think you can clone at any age as long as the horse is still alive. I have cloned a 22 year old horse and made changes to the clone.

  • The cloning lab says it has to be a horse you bred or created.
