Hey there! I have only had Nexus gene licenses for a couple months so I am just recently getting my first homo foals. I have noticed that some of them have a nice rich black as the background on their coat, while others have a weird greenish, blueish grey. The odd colored background reminds me of jpg compression artifacting, so I find the look less appealing than the horses that end up with the rich, full black.

Does anyone know what influences the background coat quality of a homozygous Nexus horse? Is it affected by other genes, and if so, which ones? Or, is it a product of the seed the horse is generated with, and therefore I could reroll the seed until I get the nice rich black on all my Nexus horses?

Here are examples to show what I mean. The first is the greeny-blue-grey effect, and the second has the deep, full black I prefer.
