GMT large spots?
-
Is it possible to GMT appy spots larger?
-
Can you please link the horse in question? Sometimes yes it is possible :)
-
Appaloosa Spot Regulator can be purchased in the RGS. Not regularly in the GMT lab though.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

it's one gene that i highly recommend
if you are a larger spot lover
i have added it to most of my foundation appy studs and very very happy with the outcome.273933

Thanks guys. :) It's a bunch of foundations that I wish had larger spots, so not any horse in particular. I'll be on the lookout for the Appaloosa Spot Regulator.

Another thing you can do to increase size is add pigment (sooty and DP).

On unbred lined horses, you can check their hidden appaloosa genes (LP Promoter particularly) in the GMT lab. I did that on a few of my 2Gs while they were still unbred to see what I should be breeding for and what I should be avoiding to get big spots. Here are two that I checked in the lab and wrote down their hidden genes in their notes. The first mare is het for LPP1 and the second is het for LPP2 and you can definitely see that LPP2 causes smaller spots. I haven't noticed much difference between non-carriers and LPP1. My guess would be that the horse you posted carries LPP2, but there's no way to check if it's het or hom or change that on foundations. It only shows up to edit on lined horses.

I had no idea that worked, @SilverbornStud. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try.
That's very interesting @CLynnRose! I'll definitely check that out when I get 2. gen foals. Thanks :) -
@Kristin I am more than happy to send you some cheap straws from this guy (1.5k):
MS SF EnigmaOatSpothSFASR
A mystery person helped me to make him homozygous for ASR1 so this way I can pay it forward!
However, he has a 2% boost so the best you can do it cross him with exceptional producing mares to get the best chance of intact foals.
Let me know how many you want!
Also happy to sell you straws from this guy for 5k each, he is het ASR1 but also has Splash M and Autumn among other things.
MSrs SF AustriaNights hSF
You could also try to find other ASR1 studs for breeding, it is available in the search under the 'white markings' tab.HJ1 160524

I have this guy, he is my Secret Santa gift from last Christmas
CRVS1 Da Bomb
his price is on his page -
I think with the ASR1, it also helps to start with larger spots.

Thank you so much, @MasterStablesMS! That's so kind of you. :) Could I have 15, please?
I don't have the Phantom genes so I can't use your second stallion unfortunately, but thanks for offering.
Thanks @Covus :) I'd love 10 straws from him, please.
Thanks for the tip, @SabreBaby. I think I have to avoid breeding my horses with the smallest of spots. -

Thanks Corvus :)
