The most important thing to do when starting out is to work your way through the Achievement Tasks. You'll find links to that helpful feature in the left margin under My Stable and in a special box in the right margin.

You can also find a number of posts in the forum aimed at helping new players.

Once you've worked your way through all this, you can also ask any specific questions here as a forum post. We're a friendly group, and happy to provide answers. The more specific the question, the easier it is to answer.
