Tea's Pony Project
  • Introduction:

After looking through a bunch of forum posts and reading a lot of information from the wiki, I finally feel like I kind of understand how the game works- and now I think I'm actually ready to figure out my own from-scratch breeding project.

I haven't figured out exactly what color genes I'm looking for, but I will be breeding for Sport and Cob ponies (yes, both). As an extra fun goal, I'll be looking to try and make my ponies as small as I can.

I'm going to have to go through and rename a bunch of my horses and sort them as well so I can find horses that are truly second generation and not ones that I bred from the random stud I picked up from auction, which is going to be a fun time.

  • SO, the first breeding season is now over! Most of the horses I bred through my planned matches ended up flopping, but I do have a handful of really nice ponies:

    image
    ARS 16562220 True Novelty

Ee Aa DP- Sty- f- pp W20W1 PATN1-
who, at 10.8 PT, was the highest of this month's crop. His sire was one of two that produced really well.

All in all, there were five "A/Blue" foals, all from the same sire. The best filly was
    image
    ARS 16563201 Violation

ee Aa Cr- D- Z- Sty- ff Pp LP- PATN1-
with a PT score of 10.3.

    The best colt was
    image
    ARS 16562147 Perspective

ee Aa Cr- DD Z- f- Pp TO- PATN1-
with a PT score of 10.7, close behind Novelty.

I still have to go through and cull some of the weaker stock before I update the outcomes of the matches- particularly, I have a lot of colts that need to go.

  • Am thinking you might be confusing PT score with breedability. PT score it completely separate and only deals with how the horse shows and has nothing to do with how the horse will breed. The "papers" C,B,A,Star or Yellow, Red, Blue, Gold are really the only visible factors of how a horse will breed. From a breeding standpoint Perspective is the better colt becuase he has papered higher :) from a showing standpoint Novelty is slightly better. You would need to Comp test them back to their Sire to find out if either are better than their Sire.

  • @annismyrph I do understand that PT scores and papers are independent. The first horse was just the highest PT score I had overall; the other two were the best out of the higher papered foals (of which I didn't have many).

  • OK :) just wanted to make sure you weren't confusing them :)
