Post horses with hard to guess colors
-
A few topics have made me realize I'm getting pretty good at guessing what genes an in game horse is going to have. I find it really interesting to see how some of the colors are expressed, like the black livers that you may not immediately guess what it is.
So show off those horses with an unusual phenotype for their genotype!
Here's one I bred last season. I am just starting to pay attention to nd1, and his color was so odd as a foal that I kept him to let him grow up.

well I have dozens of White show horses which have long color names....

The phenotype on this one is absolutely ridiculous. It’s longer than the ones I have from the herd helper “color with a really long name”

^ yes I tend to use 3 different tack “styles” for different horses lol. Regular western is just “regular” horses. Black n red tack is for rank specials. Blue background and white bridle is fantasy gene horses lol

@khaosacres Tis adorable though! @};-

Khaos, that one is super weird! I'm not that familiar with DFP2, but I guess it really changes phenotype?

@lecobb8 when I first seen her I thought she was from my Platinum herd thar got mixed up in pasture... I'm pretty sure the ND1 is causing her to look pale the way she is but don't quote me on that because I'm probably wrong
-
Mu i think may be causing her to look pale with the nd1. But im fairly new with Mu gene. I have a brown stallion with mu that appears lighter than what he would be without the gene. I guess mine has dun added to. I dont remember him having it lol silly me.
Terrific trio -

Here is another horse with mu . I wonder if these two didnt have dun that they would be more pale like your filly??Post edited by Brandybrookes at 2022-10-16 06:04:08 -
Dun is a dilution gene and lightens not darkens the coat.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )
she/her -
@Brandybrookes Mushroom is a recessive gene that needs 2 copies to show so Mushroom wouldn't show on the filly I posted. The filly I posted also has ND1 and DFP2, ND1 diluted her body slightly but created a shadowing at her withers and then the DFP2 created the primitive baring back marking.
This is the description for ND1 :A weaker mutation of the dun gene, causing primitive markings but almost no dilution. Needs 1 copy to show and is recessive to dun.
