chimeric horses and GMTS
-
I want to be clear about Chimeric horses. If i bought a satin or a snow gene or paid for GMTs and wanted to put it on a chimeric horse, would i have to pay for each chimeric half? so it would cost twice as much to have a heterozygous chimeric snow/- horse than a regular one?
Also, down at the bottom of the GMT menu, I noticed something about combining two horses andmaking a chimera. what would the point of doing that be? (just curious) thank you. -
With chimeric horses, when you purchase a gene it applies to both sets of DNA, so you're still only paying for two copies if you wanted to make the horse homozygous, or one copy if heterozygous.
If you go through the GMT lab, I believe it is per gene.
I only paid for two copies of platinum for this guy but it applied to both sets of his DNA. I GMT'd the chocolate on him, so it only applied to the set of DNA I wanted it to.

The above info is not true for the GMT lab.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

What is true then?

In the GMT lab, you have to add each gene to the DNA set you want it on. For a chimeric horse, each gene will give you the option of which DNA set and which strand you want to put it on. Here's an example: this horse was already a chimera when created, and I wanted to put three KIT genes on for my newly converged line. Since all KIT genes are available in the GMT lab, I was able to put two KIT genes on one set and the third on the second set.

Merging two horses(must be non-chimeric to merge) is useful if you want a chimeric horse with different RGS genes on each DNA set. If you simply purchase genes in the gene sales and add them to your already chimeric horse, they will automatically go on both DNA sets. For example: I want to create a foundation stallion for my Axiom line who has all four of the licensed Axiom genes(Blue, Red, Green, and Wrong Warp). The only way to do that is to purchase each gene in the RGS sales, putting two on one colt and two on another colt, then merging the two colts in the GMT lab. There is no way to add all four genes to an already chimeric horse because they are on the same allele; they would overwrite each other.Post edited by MackZ at 2022-11-01 11:50:41Might be addicted to pixel ponies...
