How does everyone organize their show barns?
-
I have roughly 2.5k show horses, I’m struggling to find and efficient way to sort them all. I have 3, 1k stall barns for them.
So my question is how does everyone organize their show horses in a way that makes sense -
I honestly just throw any show horse in any show barn that has room. I only use show horses for...well...showing so to me it doesn't matter where they are :)) But I don't have nearly as many show horses as you, I currently only have 996 show horses
-
i sort them by age. Horses that come with points, they're in their own barn.
-
I kind of sort them by age. I also have a "Future Auction" barn for the ones that aren't likely to level off in a good spot. Those are mostly pointed foundations I pick up in auction to sell when they're 10. My barns also include a small barn for "Retirees", which are show horses that are aged 17 and up.Post edited by MackZ at 2022-11-13 17:10:49Might be addicted to pixel ponies...

I honestly don't sort show horses because I don't personally see a need for it. I don't do anything with them like I do with my pasture breeders. Now that I have also taken over two other players accounts, I have 13,706 altered horses currently so it is completely not possible to sort them in any easy, methodical way. They just get dumped in my 1000 stall and 210 stall show barns and set to auto show. I tried sorting by age on Mesa but quickly realized after 1 season that having to move them around or rename barns every time would be way too tedious for me and my ADD to handle haha :)Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Yep, I put them into barns wherever there is place too. Every once in a while (every few months or so) i sort my barns by age and look at the older than 10 horses that have little points compared to their others. They will be auctioned to make room for others. Thats it!HJ1 160524

I tried to put all my geldings in one 1k barn and all my spayed mares in another 1k barn and save my smaller barns for sorting breeding projects
-
While I am not quite as large as HayesStable ,lol , I do have 8 1k show barns and a couple of 210's ; I just refill them as they have space :) its tooo much to try to sort them and my ADHD would flip out if I tried lol
-
Previously I’ve thrown them all into whatever barn has space but it’s been driving me crazy not having any order. My show horses are a bootstrap herd and majority are intact because…well I don’t really know…for now I split them into barns by their pt score maybe it’ll give me some peace for a while
-
I don’t sort them. They’re all on auto show anyway so they go wherever. Same with my breeding stock since I don’t use pastures any more. :)Post edited by SharayahStables at 2022-11-14 08:38:40

@sharayah, how do you pass SBA with your horses if you don't use pastures???
-
I hand breed them all, only breed even generations/close paper levels. I have so many horses now so I haven’t bred them all in many years, but it’s working for me right now. My higher PT lines I don’t worry about SBA because they’re strictly for show. :)Thanked by 1Fiddler

@sharayah!! wow that's all I can say. I have much to learn
-
No sorting, I just keeping filling them up.
-
I used the holes left by horses dying this past time plus getting rid of low performers to do a rough sort by age, keeping age range small if possible, three or four years in a barn, but I won't label each barn by age, as the initial insertion of horses was random. I look forward to being able to more easily get rid of low performers.
My suggestion: One barn for ages 1-5, the second for 6-10, and the third for 11+.Post edited by Treble at 2022-11-15 13:37:39Game number 273531

I have 1 1k stall barn for horses with 600+ points so that I can show my best horses all at once when I don;t have the patience to enter all barns.
