  • If you click on their name on the forum, you can see threads and discussions they have partcipated in. I use that to see what projects they are working on, goals, wishes etc.

  • Also, one question. Is there a certain amount of gifts I need to give? For example, like 8 or 10?

  • There's no set number of gifts you need to give. Some people prefer lots of little gifts and some just one or two special gifts. Some like to space out the gifting with little gifts and then end with "the big one" and some like to save it all for a big reveal at the end. As long as the total value meets or exceeds the level you sign up for, there's no wrong way to gift. If you decide to sign up, what to expect will become much more clear when you receive your recipient's wishlist. It might include a preference for lots of little gifts or one or two big, special gifts. I worried the first time I signed up that I'd be at a loss for what to give or suddenly find myself in over my head, but it didn't happen. When you start reading about your giftee's goals and dreams on their wishlist, the ideas will start popping into your head and everything will fall into place. And there's always lots of players on the forum eager to help others shop, so don't worry you won't be able to find or get what you need to make your giftee happy. :)
  • Also another tip: don't be afraid to ask for help! Every year there will be topics in the forum where people share the things/genes they have in their barns (for example snowflake horses, DP horses, etc.). Don't be afraid to ask them to help you out if you struggle to find anything suited for your giftee. Everyone is happy to help!

And second tip don't forget to enjoy the shopping! To me, participating in the gift exchange is all about making the other person happy and getting joy out of that.

  • The first few times I took part in the Gift Exchange, I panicked because I always seemed to get a recipient who liked the total opposite of things that I liked! However, as others have commented, you will find a whole host of players on here who are happy to help out with advice or practical help. Don't be afraid to ask and I promise that you will love the experience and will look forward to the next one. :)

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.
